Mother in laws are very touchy... I know whatever I say to the cow is repaid tenfold on my wife when I am not around.  Then my wife refuses to let me take it to the next level and really chew the cow out.

Mother in laws should be illegal.  Part of me wants to divorce my wife so I can have the pleasure of tearing the cow a new one!

Def
I used to have a theory that every women i went out with should in an ideal world be an orphan ;)

I have yet to go out with anyone who's mother I got on with, except one where i got on a little to well with the mother and not so much the daughter >:D

of course it might just be that I'm the reason they don't like me :o

Na your right could'nt be loverable ole me ;D

I never had problems with mother in laws until this one.  It was always the daughters I had trouble with!

Maybe I should introduce my mother in law to drtomy?  I think there's a definite market for a we hate def group... I know more than a few people that would frequent it!

Def, you may want to rethink the mother in law thing. The next one ahead may be worse than the one you put in the rear view mirror >:(

The hard one for me was meeting a girl who I found myself somewhat attracted to... until I found out I went to school with her father!

<long overdue devil's advocate>
So let me see if I got things straight. Grant didn't check if the guy actually accepted paypal from his location. He won the auction and then understood his mistake and wanted out. Grant didn't want to pay $15 for the paddle via means other than paypal because he didn't trust other means, and (supposedly) he would also send the relisting fee through paypal as well. The ebay guy didn't want to accept international paypal because he didn't trust that on his end and wanted his money anyway. So both sides didn't trust each-other's payment method and both were fighting over a $15 sum. In my humble opinion (probably not interesting anyone else than me), it was Grant who erred in the first place, not the other guy.

technically Grant didn't read all the "fine print" but it did say he accepts pay-pal
in the "BIG" print! and most of us would think "He accepts pay-pal"
and Grant did try to contract him (after he found out he didn't accept pay-pal when he won the auction).

a system error, a page error, an ad error, whatever it was a simple mistake and Grant
tried to contact the seller when he found out, but the seller did not respond (ya I always
do my business and before I finish go on vacation!) and then the seller got wacky! :twak:

I did look to see if he accepted Paypal- and at the bottom of the auction where the payment info was listed, it said the seller preferred Paypal.  It was written into the item description that dirty foreigners must send untraceable methods of payment.  I didn't see that until after I'd bid.  I looked in the right place for payment info, just didn't realize it was amended somewhere else.  And, I fully admitted I was wrong for having missed that, which is why I was willing to compensate him for the auction, despite the fact that I don't think hiding additional payment info somewhere else in the auction is a good way to provide that information.

Still, it was an honest mistake, from a possibly dishonest seller, who made no effort to be lenient to a potential customer, and he lost out on a fair bit of money as a result.

He just doesn't take Paypal from us dirty foreigners.  US Paypal is fine.

This sounds kind of dumb, because to me, a guy who deals with folks all over the world (we have more countries listed in SOSAK than there is in the UN!), I think Paypal is the best darned thing anyone has ever come up with!

This guy insisted that I send a money order, which to be honest I think I'd rather just set fire to my money here than send it to him.  I have absolutely no protection when I send a money order, especially when I send it over a border, so I only send those to folks I know, or I have no reason to distrust.  A guy like this, who doesn't respond to emails, is unwilling to compromise, starts auctions that end when he knows he'll be on vacation... all of this was one reason on top of another not to trust this guy.

And the cost of the paddle?  The amount he is fighting tooth and nail to try and get?  The amount he actually risked (and got) bad feedback over?

$14.99.

Now you see why he had to start his own business.  Wal Mart refused to hire him.
