This is where it belongs (DaveK's art)! If anyone wants to add other pictures of a Pulse dominating another Multi, you are encouraged to do so!

I saw this thread the other day, and had to confirm it for myself before posting, but I forgot the Pulse had scissors on it.

Found my old Pulse in the oddest of places, the glove compartment of my car!
The handle date codes are 0201 and 0401. Gotta the hook/tip file groove.

Careful you don't get any blood on the thing mate. :twak:

That one does look a bit 'owie' though. :-\

Don't know about the file, mine certainly doesn't have the hook groove.  I do have one on my PST II though so I'd say it's an older feature (if any have the groove at all ).  I'm sure there is someone who can answer better. :)

Mine has a grooved file and the date codes are 0401 on both of the handles.

No groove in mine, date codes are: 0401 and 0801.  So it would seem the change happened mid way through 2001.

Anyone else want to jump in with some extra dates?

0201 & 0401 on mine, has groove. Was yours repaired maybe at one time when there was no more grooved files available?

Hi

Both my Pulses, dated 0900 & 1100, has a grooved file. Works brilliantly to sharpen darts.

Could any of you fine lads and lasses please show me how you go about opening the scissors on your Pulses? It's the implement that gives me the most pain combined with clumping... :-\ I mean, is there some better/cleverer way than "bring out the clump of tools, push the rest of the clump back in watching not to cut yourself, bring the scissors to the full open position, push the rest of the clump back in (since it opened up again during the last step)"?

I keep my left thumb over the tip of the knife, grab the nail nick on the scissors with my right thumb, and when I get the "clump" out(consisting of the scissors and two flatheads) I push the flat heads back in with my index finger as I pull the scissors out.  It is no more time consuming than using an SOG PL, and I really prefer the pulse so I forget about the clumping.

I only own a PT-540 from the SOG side but I know what you mean. Still, I can't see how people use tools such as a Wave or Charge or Spirit or other non-clumper and then go back to a Pulse/ST. Mind you, I'm not whining or anything. I just feel I'm missing something obvious as there is a lot of love for the Pulse and although I really like its form factor and tool load out, mine lives in a drawer mainly for this reason... :-\

I don't really notice it, it's just another part of using the tool.
And if it weren't for tool clumping there's no way I would be able to get the philips screw driver out!
I too hold the knife in, pull the "clump" out part of the way, then I grab the scissors from both sides, push the screw drivers back in and pull the scissors out all of the way.

Once you get past the clumping, it really is a fantastic tool.
