Maybe now is the time to reconsider a second run of the sosak hats :???:

Wooohooo the Swisstool X just arrived! the funny thing is that it turns out to be the 'plus' package (with a mini me spanner thingy and bits) which i wasn't expecting  because it wasn't described as such....or is the plus the standard one anyway? :D

after fondling both the spirit and the X, i would guestimate that the nugget like spirit, while lighter, has a higher specific gravity, ie it packs more grams into each cubic centimetre of tool...

the tools on the X are quite a bit harder to open, and while sooopoib, don't quite have the same other worldly slick'n snappy thing of the spirit. a heavy duty thing maybe? or perhaps the spirit was made by magic dancing elves   ;D

Congrates on the swiss tool X mate they really are the best of the bunch as far as I'm concerned, as for the ''mini spanner thingy''  ;D no there not standard you just a very luck so and so ;)

I've got to agree with you though the tools are a little difficult to get out compared to the spirit, and because of the swiss built it sadly doesn't get any better with age ::)

But as fiddley as they can be to get out, you only get the one tool not half a dozen clumping together like some other makes ;)

If you use it alot then you soon get used to the hard to get out blades . But micky is right about the tool not loosening up over time which is due to the quality of the tool . I have had other top brands that after a few months use the tools just flop out of the handles and the whole thing used to rattle if you shook it . You mentioned that the tools dont snap quite the same as the Spirit .A good wash and dry and oil may sort that out or if the tools have zero side play then the rivets may have been pienned ( Spelling ? ) a bit to hard in the factory . One of my Swisstools is like this . Makes no odds to the performance though .Have you got a pic ?

i have no pic at this stage. the X was advertised as new, and i can't really fault it either. perhaps some multi vits or supplements to toughen up my nails...;D has anyone custom made an implement to help open the blades, eg a whittled twig/pick?
the only problem is, these saks are too nice to use and abuse! lets just wait for the novelty to wear off a little then i'll put them through their paces  ;D i was thinking the X would really suit my glove box, where it would be really handy as i drive quite a bit.

the funny thing is, i was in the market for another leatherman - i had narrowed it down to either a tti or an original wave and a pst2 (still may get another leatherman) and i ended up with an SAK spirit and an X. i guess three things sealed the deal - the amazing quality, the great value, and probably most important for me was the consistent positive customer feedback. Thanks all
