How're the backsprings on the 41 and 44? Nail breakers? Would they be good as users?

Neither have been cleaned up but its my opinion that after proper cleaning and relubricating both would have reasonable action, the 41 is passable now so would most likely be pretty good once sorted out. The 44 of course has badly damaged scales which would need either fixing or replacing before it could ever be used again.

I think nail breaking springs were part of the design for those early soldiers?

I'm looking for a 51-60, but ideally 51 would be really nice... need to document the change when it went shorter and lighter.

The Cadet has a large blade opposite a nail file plus bottle and can opener tools. A Recruit is a similar 84mm SAK but not alox and has a small blade instead of the nail file.

A Spartan is 91mm closed and also has a corkscrew and reamer/awl
