Had a good Coastguard Shout today !!!!

I had a day off today and myself and another guy were doing some voluntary P.R stuff at a Primary school , we were handing out stickers and badges to do with safety on the beach and sea side when our pagers went off and we were called to a Windsurfer in trouble .Just as we arrived on scene the guy was recovered and was on the beach out of danger and considering a huge wave had taken him out and washed him over the rocks all he sustained was a cut knuckle  He was very lucky  although he snapped the sail on his board .But this wasn't the end to it  When the 999 call was put in , two lifeboats and ourselves in the truck were called . After the guy was safe the lifeboats were stood down . One was about to launch and was stood down at the waters edge but the other had just launched . Now let me tell you this was a big sea on a spring tide with a very strong Notherly behind it about a force 5-6 I would say .The Sea was so rough that the lifeboat that had launched couldn't land/recover at its own beach ( some four miles to the north ) so had to land at the beach where the incedent was . This ment bringing its recovery unit the four miles by road .I've attached some pics but they really don't show just how big a sea it was .












You can clearly see the row of rocks the windsurfer was washed over . He really was very lucky .

All in all a great day with a happy ending

must always be good when you get happy endings  my grandad got sunk twice in WW2 knowing what it was like he gave a bit of money to the RNLI in his will

The tractor is totally sealed and can go in very deep as the exhaust is high up . Everything is washed down with fresh water after its been in the sea . Some of the gear and equipment the RNLI have is very impressive .

   Its certainly put to a good cause . While H.M Coastguard is a Government agency the RNLI ( Royal Nation Lifeboat Institute ) is a charity and is a declared facility by HM Coastguard who will request their launch when needed . They certainly do a great job and pride themselves as world leaders in Search and Rescue at sea.

He was very lucky indeed.
 I had to rush into Baywatch mode this morning as I thought we had a child in the river as a women was screaming and there was alot of rushing about on the quay. I ran down to the boat and found a little dog had fell in and couldnt get out. I grabbed a boat hook, hooked its collar and lifted the little fella out. As I had to lay down to get him out, as soon as his feet touched the ground, he shock himself dry right in my face  .
Its all exciting here in Norfolk lol. will see you tomorrow at work

We have friends on the coast in Norfolk. When we visit we go to the local seaside cafe and have the biggest fry up you have ever seen, it's called a "lifebuoy", for every lifebuoy a donation goes to the RNLI.

Yes unfortuantly and jet skiers and surfers . Mosty its the more experienced and/or stupid ones though  But according to them the bigger the waves the better  But yes it does put lives at risk just so they can get their adrenaline rush .
