Just doing some ebay surfing and found this Black Oxide Gerber. Would be a nice addition to anyones collection but would also make a great user! I would get it but i have my eye on another tool at the moment.

Nice!  I have been meaning to get another Gerber, but I'm a little broke lately.  Too bad too as that one seems to be a good price at the moment!

The price is low enough, but I never cared much for those early Gerbers, without the locking knife blades. The new ones are much nicer. (But no doubt cost more)

Gerber does/did make a few interesting finish variations of the MP series.

I have seen an OIF/OEF black/tan tool for sale as well as tools with red/orange handles and black heads.

The "Operation Iraqi Freedom" model does have a unique color scheme. I really have to wonder though if the name is anything official, or just a marketing ploy?

I'm not sure, I should have snapped one up when I saw it for sale for 40$ though. It may be like the Spyderco OIF/OEF Native?

Now, if it matters at all, most of the military personnel I meet are former Marines and all of them used the term "Gerber tool" as a catchall for any multitool. I have also seen a video where one Marine pulls shrapnel out of another flack jacket using a Supertool but it is referred to as a "Gerber" by his comrades.

Here's another unusual variation of the multi-plier:

Speaking of contrasting colors, I liked the orange/black scheme the best. Very striking.

That's the way the Fisherman model should be colored, in case it gets dropped or knocked overboard!
