Fisher Space pen question
on: June 30, 2010, 11:54:57 PM
OK, I have an odd question. How well do pens using the Fisher Space pen refills mark on ducktape? On different surfaces?

Oftentime when I'm using ducktape I'll need to write on it too. For instance when packing things to move. I currently use a Sharpie for my EDC writing implement but I'm looking at getting a nice pen. Several I'm looking at use the Fisher Space pen refill and I just want to make sure it will write on my favorite stuff before I spend the money.

I'm sorry for the weird request but pens can be quite expensive and I can't afford to waste money. Thanks.  :tu: :tu:

I actually have the Bullet one http://www.spacepen.com/375bulletpen.aspx

and one day at Hardees, I was eating breakfast when I noticed a grease spot on my receipt so out came the Space Pen and I was able to write thru the grease and it was readable.

You never know when you might have to jot a note thru some grease  ::)

Just tried it with my Diplomat Grip, no problem. Smears a little bit just after you write on it if you wipe over.

Even better works the uniball PowerTank 1.0. No smearing at all, and you can see the writing better (both blue on green ducktape) I love these pens. So cheap and absolutely reliable. They just don't look so nice.

I personally found that they barely wrote on paper, let alone anything else, but it seems I have just been unlucky (3 times in a row).
I'm back!!

I would highly recommend a Fisher pen for many things, but for ducktape, you want a sharpie, IMO.

Sadly, a sharpie might not be much better

Sharpie's work great for duck tape. That's what I carry now. I go back and forth between a regular Sharpie, a Super Sharpie and my stainless steel one.
