An interesting lot.
on: July 03, 2010, 01:21:59 AM
I have slowed down my MT collecting somewhat, but I am still adding a few pieces here and there. Here are the latest additions, both from fellow MT.O members and eBay.

A FlipGrip Dual Jaw Multi-tool.
I have wanted one of these ever since I came across it on the internet. Unfortunately, this is a very hard to get MT up here in Canada. No clue why, but it just was. I got this one off of a fellow member.

(To lock the tool in position, you have to slide the metal plate out…the one covered in the bright orange sticker. The needle nose pliers have to be inside the tool also, as the metal plate hooks around them.)

(The metal locking plate is now released. The FlipGrip is spring loaded.)

(The tools are not the best quality, but not all that bad either. )

(The other handle only has a bit driver.)

(The handles flip around, giving you a choice between needle nose pliers, or blunt.)

(Flip the handles, and you now have a nice needle nose.)

The Fast and Furious Stanley Mini Switchpliers
Stanley tool have this little mini SOG Switchplier that I have been hunting for quite some time. For some reason, they are very hard to get up here just like the FlipGrip. Anyhow, I jumped at the chance at these once I was offered them.

(These come in a nice branded hard plastic case with a nylon/Velcro belt loop on the back.)

(The tools are nice, and both feature a different graphic on the handles.)

(For a size comparison, a SOG Switchplier was added.)

(I have no clue if these are made by SOG, licensed from SOG, or copied/stolen from SOG. What I do know is that these little guys are very high in the cute scale.)

Spyderco Spyder/Byrd Wrench
I figured it was time to get a Byrdwrench to go along with the Spyderwrench.

(Byrd on the left, Spider on the right.)

(Byrd on the left, Spider on the right.)

(The Byrdwrench has a rain drop knife blade cut out, and the Spyderwrench is circular.)

(The flip side.)

(Both tools can come apart. Here we have just the knife side. On the tail end.)

(Both sides removed from each other.)

(A difference between them is the removable tool. The Spiderwrench comes with a diamond file with a Phillips on one end. The Byrdwrench comes with a wood rasp.)

Al Mar Quickclip 2004 Model IV
My first Al Mar. I can see why these are highly sought after, as they do exude quality.

(The box.)

(Model sticker.)

(Showing the clip side.)

(Reverse side.)

(Jaws in action.)

(The knife is very nice.)

Some close-ups.

Buck Twin Peaks Knife
Very similar to the X-Tract family, except it has no pliers.

(From left to right: Buck X-Tract Fin, Buck X-Tract, Buck Twin Peaks.)

It is a bit of a worry Chako I also have a -FlipGrip(got my one from Tim/Felinevet) -a standard Stanley SL40 , -Switchplier,-Byrdwrench  & a -QuickClip (GREAT grab mate  8) 8)).

Chako if you look on the Stanley SL40 tool it has SOG's SwitchPlier patent number on it , I took this as meaning the tool was built under license from SOG in China by Stanley

Chako you need to get yourself a Al Mar 4X4 I like my one even more than my QuickClip even though my QuickClip is a limited edition version  :o :D :D

Bob's photo of mine & his limited edition QuickClip's is still the wall paper on my Mac  :D :D

A nice array of hard to find oddballs you got there Chako. :salute: Like Mat says, now you'll need to find yourself a 4x4 :)

Well the second half of the package arrived today. Figured I may as well post them in here instead of making a new one.

So here goes...

Stanley SL40 (I am going to take MultiMat's model designation to heart...thanks for that info!)

These little guys are just so cute.

A family portrait.

SOG ToolClip
Finaly I got one of these hard to get long sought MTs in the collection. I have another one coming in from Sazabi.

Fiskars  Multipliers
Fiskars owns Gerber. I guess they even branded a few Gerbers with their own name.

Victorinox BO Swiss Tool
The BO Swiss Tools are just so sexy. Did I just say that? Anyways, the BO finish gives a fantastic tool a less slippery surface…negating my only minor complaint with the SS version of this exemplar multi-tool. In other words, this is one of the better tools out there, and the BO is just that much sweeter. I bought this one as a gift for a lucky friend…until I realized the different heads when I compared them.

(Other than the head, the only difference is the cut out on the pliers spring bracket.)

Some more good ones there Chako! I do love those black oxide SwissTools. Have you gotten a corkscrew yet to try out in the D-shaped cut out? (Unfortunately Vic doesn't make black oxide corkscrews to match!) :D

You think that is bad. most times when I am trying to do research on a model, my photos and links usually aren't far behind.   :)

A necromancer badge would be fun, but it might open a can of worms...
