Thank you all for the replies, and yes this one its mine, I carry it every time I go to work and you'll never guess how I got it. Long story made short, I'm a civilian electronics tech for the US Navy and this one time I had the chance to work on the Mark V speed boats for the Navy seals, I was already finished with the work and I was leaving, when this Seal asked me if I could check something for him, I wasn't supposed to fix anything else cause it was outside the contract, but I did it anyways, it took some time but I got it done, then he says, here can u use this? gave me the tool and said thank you...I had it ever since.

Beautiful tool- we'd heard reports that the finish was very easily marred but it looks like yours has held up pretty good.

Nice story Spec, but those pictures are of two different tools. (one has gear covers and button head screws, the other has open gears and hex head screws)

haha....whooops!

But alas, another cool variation I wasn't aware of!

So were these camo SOG tools only sold to the military, or do they even exist at all?

They do exist :salute:  I bought one many years ago from an online distributor named Brigade Quartermasters. (not sure if they are around anymore..?)

But SOG must have done another run of these more recently, because that first photo of specwar71's has gear covers, which only came out in 2007.

Yea, I did a google search last night to get some more info and found a guy on a AR15 forum who happens to be selling one. The post was recent, from 6/22.
I had to join the forum to contact him via PM, I'm waiting for the forum administrators to approve my membership.

His asking price is only $75, even though he listed it as "new in box rare collectible"
His post said he'll send a pic via mobile for anyone interested.  We'll see what happens.
I get the impression from his post that he's currently in the military.

Oh and, Brigade Quartermasters is still very much in business, but only sell the power lock in black now, even though the camo version is still pictured in their add. lol

Thank you for all your replies, that's actually 2 tools and I have them both, the older one without the gear covers is the one from the story and the other one I got it from a tactical store several years back just before SOG stopped making that design. I actually contacted SOG about the camo pattern and they dont make it anymore, actually the hired a guy that came up with that design but is no longer with the company according to the info I received from SOG, so that's it for that design.

I know this color variation is very hard to find, so it begs the question, how did you manage to find a spike and v cutter in the tiger stripe color pattern to install on your tool?

Hi, if you look closer, the spike and the vcutter are just black oxide, those you can get from the SOG website.

Hi Spec,

The pictures are very hard so see because of the Camo background.  Do you think you could please post a picture of both side by side on a contrasting background?  I really want to see the difference in the strip pattern.

Thanks,

Bruce

I'd like to see some different pics of those tools too. How about a side-by-side?
