I agree with the guys saying that quality is quality no matter where it's from, but I do have to admit, seeing "Made in China" is a little off-putting to me. Think about it, with so many products being made in China and so many of them being made as cheap as possible, there are a lot more examples of Chinese crap than there are of Chinese quality. On the other hand, so little products these days are made in the USA, and prices are so high to make something here, that there are many many more examples of quality USA-made products than there are of USA-made crap. I think that's all Cummins is trying to say, and I totally agree with it too.

However, we also must remember that the Chinese factories have the skills and resources to make top-notch products. It's all about the company who hires the factory. Just look at Multitasker Tools. His products are top-notch, but made in china to keep prices reasonable. I suspect that's what many companies are doing nowadays.

It does suck seeing Made in China on products. China and other factories in Asia have always been known to make crap but I think it’s time to realize and face the facts that they can and do make quality goods
There is no problem that cannot be solved by the use of high explosives.

There's a world of difference between supporting your local manufacturers and rubbishing things that are made elsewhere.

I think some people need to wise up. For the right money, Chinese factories can make excellent quality goods, and you need to get used to seeing more things coming from China, Taiwan and pretty soon India.

There's nothing wrong with being patriotic and supporting jobs in your country (I often do when I have the option and opportunity), but if you want to pretend that your country (whichever country that is) has a monopoly on quality, you'd be wrong. Big companies know this already and will need to continue to outsource to compete.

Simple capitalism really.
I used to come here a lot.

Looks to me like he's kicking his own ass tbh. The guy made a number of quite unequivocal statements on a public forum, so it seems to me to be fair enough if people ask him to elaborate.

I used to come here a lot.

Life is too short to worry about who buys what from where. I lost my Mother-In-Law today and this loss is going to change me forever. Take a deep breath and think about the things that are important. Let's not fight with each other as we have a great group here  . Ok... I'll shut up now.   :-\
Sometimes change is a good thing, other times not so much!

My issue isn't with the quality but the price. If they are made in Taiwan they should lower the price. I hate when companies switch from the US to overseas and then keep the same retail price. It makes me think that their company is only about one thing, greed!   ::)  I love SOG's, but I might only buy them on the used market from now on.  :-\

I wholeheartedly agree with every word you said there.
We, in the UK had a similar experiance with Dyson vacuums  a few years back  ( I know it's not MT's) - they did exactly the same stunt - laid off all british workers and moved production to the far east under the promise the price would be more competitive.....They went UP!! and no doubt production costs went down!!
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.
