Well i've just won a Gerber 800 on ebay!  Hopefully be here in the next couple of days...looking forward to it! My first butterfly gerber, but i have used the 700 a couple of years ago and that was great.

Now do i bid on the other tool i had my eye on earlier......hmmmm

I've been looking to get one for a year or so now but i either missed the cheap ones or got out bid on the ones i did see.The replaceable cutting jaws and the saw coupler are the main reasonsi like it, but the spring loaded jaws should also be cool.

Congrates mate, the replaceable cutting jaws is such a good idea, quite a few times in the past i've thought twice about using the wire cutters on my multi's for fear of damaging them.

Do need to find a source for them, not that I expect them to wear out quickly it will just be nice to know I have spares for when ; really need them.

Woo! It arrived today...stupid slow postage system. I have to admit that even though people have said this is a fat tool (an having seen a fair few pics of it) that i really didnt expect it to be this fat! It's huge! But its very ergonomical when opened up and even when closed even my small(ish) hands can grip it very easily. Despite its size though it is surprisingly light, but it doesn't feel cheap. It is however quite stiff at the moment but i'm sure it will loosen up a bit once i've broken it in. I'll add some more comments after i've used it a few times.

I like the 800 for a pack-tool since it is so large and thick but so packed with implements. The spring-loaded pliers are a real treat!

Spring loaded jaws are a great idea.  I liked muy Gerber reall well for what I used it for.  I wish that Leatherman would add a spring loaded model but that may be a long time coming.
