A bit of a change for me. I usually carry a SAK (or the occasionally slippy). But my recent "acquisitions" got me to thinking about more "tactical" style knives.
A bit of background. I'd been fooling around with the Kershaw Chive I picked up the other day. At first, I didn't think much of it. However, I while I was home, I ended up having to do some cutting work (opening a bunch of packages, etc.). On a lark, I picked up the Kershaw, flipped it open, and went to town. And really took a shine to it. The little bugger worked like it a charm. Light, easy to handle. Great little knife.
To make a long story short, I was forced to go to Wally-World on Saturday (something I try to do as little as possible), as I needed to grab some bug repellent. Well, being in the sporting goods department, one thing lead to another, I wandered by the counter, and was surprised to see the Chive's big brother there. And, well...
I'm not the greatest fan of parkerized knives, but it is a (modified) Wharncliffe, and I'm a complete sucker for Wharncliffe blades... And it is a good knife. Has a good feel to it. Mechanism is solid. Thin, comfortable to carry. I drove about 6.5 hrs today with it clipped in my pocket, and didn't even notice it.
I think I picked up a winner. Now, if I could just find my damned Case Seahorse Whittler, I'd have the happy Wharncliffe group up & running!
