Gold vs Silver Victorinox Shield
on: July 15, 2010, 11:31:30 AM
I noticed that some of my older Victorinox knives have a golden shield (or even the fish emblem) on the scale. Who knows more about this (when they changed it, why, are they rare/valuable,...)? Tx!

The difference is because older ones were made from nickel silver.  The change to steel happened around 1980.  In and of itself it doesn't make a SAK more valuable but older knives as a very general rule are often worth more than their contemporary equivalents.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Tx for the info! I must say, I really like the gold version, I think it makes them "special".
