Had a job interview today
on: July 17, 2010, 12:21:52 AM
So, I got a surprise call from an employer that I had applied with over months ago on Wednesday.  Turns out they wanted me to come interview today (Friday).  So, at 10:00 I get ready to go to the interview and meet with a very nice lady.  Interview went well until we came to the start date.  They want me to start Monday.  I know everyone is thinking great he is finally getting a job and its soon.  However, lets no forget that I have a wee one, and Mrs. Fraser is already working, so no child care.  Not to mention my mother has paid for us to all go on vacation, in which we leave next Saturday.  So, I have to be honest with my interviewer that it would be nearly impossible for me to start on Monday, and I get ready to thank her for her time.  Then she says..."hold on a sec, let me think"

Earlier in the interview she asked me what my passions were.  Well if I could make a living with photography then I would, but I am going back to school in the Fall for a BS in Information Technology.  She asks would I rather do something along those lines, and I of course replied "Absolutely!"  Keep in mind I have no formal training, I have just taken a few courses, and have no credentials.  She isn't worried about that, so it looks like I will be training under the current IT guy who is about to retire.

The reason I had to start on Monday was that the mandatory 6 month training for the Logistics Coordinator position started, and they probably wouldn't have another class for the rest of the year.  However, for me, they said take the next week off, then go on vacation, and call when I get back for a meeting with the owner and the interviewer to talk about next steps.

This job would change our lives forever.  Pay isn't bad, and would finally be a two income family (something we never have been).  However, we still have to find childcare for the little one, which has been HELL.  Rome, GA is the worst place to have a baby and expect child care.  We might have a chance at two of the nicer places, but won't know until early next week.  So, please pray, send smoke, cross fingers, etc. I want the job and I want the child care.

Hope all works out for ya. Hope you can find some childcare for the youngster. I never knew childcare was so expensive until my sister mentioned what she was paying for her youngest.  :o

Hope everything lines up & falls into place mate.

So child care is a challenge world wide then  :( :(.
Our lads being 8 & 11 makes our lives a lot simpler than it used to be , from a child care point of view.
