SOG Power Assist : No Hex Bolt Construction?
on: July 20, 2010, 05:42:46 PM
- Need comment on these 2 photos. Just brought it last month on Ebay. It seem that my powerassist doesn't come with hex bolt  construction...
- Is this a fake SOG or a just another variation? This is my first SOG MT so i dont have any clue. btw i really love the way  SOG compound laverage plier works....

Check this out mate: clicky. Seems they turned to torx heads for the PowerAssist. IIRC Paladin also uses torx head screws for their SOG-style MTs.

I like the look of the hex, but torx are much easier to use.  :tu:

The West Marine Sailing Tool (by SOG) has button-head screws too. :)

Must be they've switched over to button heads on all PowerAssists? I wonder if that coincides with them moving manufacturing to Taiwan?

There is no problem that cannot be solved by the use of high explosives.

I'm not sure they're torx I think they're hex but I'm not sure. I bet it's due to shifting overseas.

Never seen that one before. A bit off topic, but may I ask what so "sailing" about that one Bob compared to a "regular" one?

The sailing tool has a big marlin spike, and a serrated sheepsfoot (safer on slippery shifting boat decks) knife blade. :)

Excellent comparison photo from Chako:

Thanks for the info. They do not have it on their website (anymore). That model seems pretty interesting, or perhaps better said....... :gimme:

And of course a  :tu: for Chako!
