Wanted >>  The black limited edition 20th anniversary wave that comes in the wood/glass frame.   I have not been able to find one ever.

I would also settle for a non-used 20th anniversary with sheath and original packaging.   Not willing to pay $500 for the one on ebay in the clamshell (not yet anyway).

I also am collecting the REI green wave that was only  available at REI for a couple years.   I already have one that is scratched up, but now am looking for minty (hopefully with packaging).

Thanks everyone  !!!!

Welcome to :MTO:  svashtar :tu: I would opt to get a Charge  + if you want the upgraded blades :tu: unless you go aftermarket the serrated blade doesn't have a better steel in any option though :dunno: it has a gut hook with the Charge + or Charge TTi + or regular TTi  only 154CM with any of the AL models and S30v for any of the newer titanium models :salute:

Or just do like most of us and start trying to buy all of them ::)

Thanks guys, appreciate the welcome!  That was it, the Charge, not the Surge.  I guess my big question is, since the Wave + and the Charge + are almost identical, if you think it’s worth it to get both?  I mean, if I managed to snag an S30V blade for my Wave+, then I’d basically have a Charge, correct?

(Although I do read that some folks think the Charge has more comfortable handles than the Wave.  (?))

Bottom line, I guess I COULD justify one for each car, one for my go bag, one as an EDC...  .  Lots of neat models, and so far I’ve just been looking at Leatherman.

Personally, I find that the wave is more comfortable in hand when in pliers mode. While using the external tools, probably a charge feels nice with lesser edges/hotpots though a wave is not really that bad either( nick picking if u ask me.) but of course the standard MTO way is to get both.  And Welcome!!

My first Wave.

That is really sweet.  I was going to get the pocket clip for mine, but read several reviews on Amazon if people complaining they had snapped.  I also wasn’t sure the Wave would fit in the sheath with the clip.

Anyway, beautiful finish on that one.

Thanks Sam!  I think I’ll probably do just that, but would like to see if I can also upgrade the 420 blade on the Wave.  I’m happy with it, but want it to be the best it can be, and a 154CM blade would be perfect.

FYI, I really liked the limited edition Wave+ I saw on Amazon that was two-tone, but heard some say the black can have long term finish issues and start looking scratched up so kept it simple.

But I’d like to get the Charge TTi + down the road, that’s a nice looking tool.

Get a Charge TTi+ and spare Wave+ handles then switch everything ! Wave handles are much more confortable to use, in my humble opinion.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/303021522639

Then you should be able to sell the Charge handles ;-) This way you'll have a nice, upgraded Wave+ S30V gut-hook for far less than buying the upgrades blades separatly.

I dont have any of the titanium models but I find that the AL models to be about the same as the Wave handles in terms of comfort

Also in regards to the BO finish, there isn't a problem with the finish ;) the wear and scratches add character and don't affect the usage at all

But get as many models as you can and you can decide for yourself

I had a chance to take some better snaps of my Wave Plus.  Doubt if these will be future candidates for the next 'calendar spread'.  :D  Glad I finally, bought one though!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t see it for me, as I already have a Wave+.  Easier just to buy an S30V blade and guthook blade.  Certainly that must be way cheaper than buying a new Charge TTi + and Wave handles.

Even if I didn’t already have a Wave+ I have to believe that buying a new Wave+ and upgraded blades would be way less than buying a new Charge TTi + for twice as much, then buying Wave handles.  (?).  I must be missing something.  The aftermarket Wave blades can’t be as much as the $100+ differential you’re suggesting, are they?

But I appreciate the food for thought!

Right now my plan is to upgrade at least the primary Wave+ blade, then check out a Charge.

Thanks, good to know.  I should have taken a chance on that two-tone, it looked great.  I have BO on the Mut and it looks fine.  Guess I was looking at my 1992 PST which still looks brand new!

Hey y'all. First post. I've owned many multitools; mostly Leathermans, but a couple of Gerbers, and most provided by Uncle Sugar. My favorite by far was a LM Wave a friend found and gave to me. Someone apparently needed it more than me, so I'm saving my nickles for a replacement, as it's kind of a luxury item for me right now. In the meantime, I'm just hanging out checking out potential mods.

Welcome to MT.o, Rob! :tu:

I've seen a few non-plus Waves on ebay for cheap that were in usable condition. Around $40 or so. :multi:

Thanks! The plus versions don't really interest me, anyway. It seems like just something else to lose or break. I'm not especially hard on my multitools, as they're just something I use in a pinch of I don't have the proper tool handy.

I get that. I do like those replaceable cutters on the big LMs and Rebar, but the non-replaceable Wave/Charge cutters are really good. I've carried the Charge a lot recently and haven't missed the replaceable cutters. Just have to think about the items being cut. :)
