Just plastic wire molding used to conceal exposed wires. I think the saw actually works better on wood, chews threw pretty good actually.

Here are a couple of older pics of my Wave along with a Buck 285, a Stayglow Climber, and a Gerber EAB Lite. The other is of the Wave with a wistle I made during some spare time in the shop.

Did LM change the date stamping on the WAVE?

I picked up a new one in a clam package at a reasonable price today.

I found a number in each handle, but not similar as my 04 Wave.
The numbers were 200 and 110.
Any insight will be appreciated, thanks.

^ in reference to the above, and looking at numbers in the handles the correct codes are 20D and 11D.

Old eyes and dim lighting prevented correct identification of a 0 for a D.

I resolved my question.
On my Wingman, I noticed a 4 digit stamp on the inside wall of the handle.

So, I examined my new Wave, and sure enough the date code is on the inside wall on each handle of my new to me Wave. 0716 and 0816.

The code is present, just in a different location than my 04 model.

Mystery solved for me.

Yes, it's different for a friend's 0105 versus my 0117. (It's interesting to see the other small changes too.)
I understand that the Rebar no longer has a date code stamping, ostensibly because the stamping was showing through? If true, I wonder if the same was happening to the Wave because the gauge of steel had decreased, forcing a revision to the date code location. (Conspiracy theory alert!)
One thing I have noticed: the quality and consistency of ALL stamping on newer Leatherman tools is definitely not up to the level of older ones. Still, it's more than good enough.

Ah yes I had heard that some of the date codes have moved to the side of the handles instead of the bottom  Glad you found it LC :tu:
