Newest arrival.....Furtaker Trapper goodness!
on: July 20, 2010, 11:14:52 PM

Just picked this one up from the post office on my way home from work. Ohhhh.....is this one nice!  :o

New release #53 pattern GEC brand Furtaker Trapper at 4 1/8" closed that is limited to a 25 piece run (mine is No.#12). Blades are 440-C Stainless, bolsters and shield are nickle/silver, and the pins and liners are brass. Scales are a sweet deep mottled brown color they call Antique Amber Bone......my pics don't do them justice.

Fit and finish is typical GEC quality, impeccable! The edges are done user sharp, not as dull as some of my other more recent GEC's but not as sharp as I like them to be. But not bad. Backsprings are stout but not nail-breakers like on some of my bigger #23's.

A beautiful piece, and one that has got me anxiously eye-balling another. That big long Wharncliffe blade has really got me liking this pattern alot. Great Eastern Cutlery is still doing it the way it should be done...Good stuff!  :2tu:

That's certainly a fine piece.  :tu:

GEC knives are pretty hard to come by over here so I haven't managed to pick any up yet.

Except for online, and one or two dealers at gun and knife shows, I don't know of any B&M stores that carry them in NC, so comparatively speaking, they're difficult to come by here, too; granted, same can really be said of SOG and most of Victorinox... and still haven't seen a Ps4 in person yet, either.

GG & nuphoria,

Thanks!

Sazabi,

You likely ain't going to find these at any B&M......Great Eastern's distributor list is quite small and they deal mostly with on-line dealers. Although SMKW's is carrying them now. GEC has only been around for 3 years now, they are fairly new.

Sean,

I'm sure you have heard of them before, I have talked enough about them. Most of the ones I own I have posted about on here..............

Yeah they are so nice those trapper slip-joints.   :tu:

I often peruse through Ebay Canada which is no big deal, but occasionally
find things at what I think to be a good price and bid, or buy it now.
I was on last nite and there was an old Boker trapper made in Germany which happened to be a
Vietnam Commemorative with the Huey Helicopters on it and some writing.  I picked it up for
$24.  It apparently is in great shape.

Mike & sergemaster,

Thanks guys......but I have to say they are even better in person. You all need to get you one!  :2tu:

Sean,

Boker has made many different Commemorative slippies over the years. I actually got one myself. Was a X-mas present from my wife, a WWII "Battle of Midway" Trapper......

A good quality piece, and a neat collectable.
