Your thoughts on a quality AA light
on: July 21, 2010, 02:33:00 AM
Hello everyone.  I am interested in a single AA light.  I have the Fenix E01 and LD01 AAA light but they are too small and I am learning that I do not care so much for a twisty.  I want a rear mounted switch, starts in low mode, button press changes brightness.  I am looking at the 4Sevens Quarks, what are your thoughts?

Regular Quark AA is what I would suggest.  The bonus is that, if you want to expand your horizons, you can buy more bodies for it later:

AAx2
CR123 (single)
18650

You might decide to replace your Fenix lights with Quarks, as I did.  Well, except for my TK30.

I actually still carry my Nitecore SmartPD D10 because of the great pocket clip and UI, but it isn't as durable as a Quark.  If you're wanting a "deep carry" clip, you won't like the Quark.

I have a Quark 123 regular that I got from "the list of Craig" and I have a Quark 123 X2 tactical  coming from a trade.  I am thinking that i would like the Quark single AA.  Does anyone out there want my Fenix LD01 in some sort of trade?  LOL  :)

Have you considered buying just the AA body for your 123 regular?  The head/tail of the 123 you have are exactly the same as the AA.

The 123x2 is the only model that uses the higher voltage head, and is incompatible with the other bodies unless you power it with a single Li-Ion battery.

Really?  So you are saying that all I need to buy is the single AA Quark body and put the head and tail from my 123 regular on it and then I have a Quark AA regular light?  Freakin' sweet, thank you.  :)

Yep, that's what I'm sayin'.

Hey, one thing I forgot though...  If you have the 123 with the clip built into the head, you'll have to remove the clip from the AA body before you use it.
