Absolutely stellar!  :like:

I love looking at the stars, even know quite a few by name. Photography like this however is completely beyond me.

And beyond me to be honest. I was just messing around with a friend late at night in the desert. Doing it properly requires some research. :)

In theory it´s not that diffcult. You´ll need long exposure times and therefore a tripod that matches the rotation of the skies (1 degree in 4 minutes). A friend of mine pictures deep space objects with a large telescope, he´s using a different technique. He makes dozens or even hundreds of pictures of the same object, I guess with short exposure times, and stacks the results. I´ve never seen him do it but his pics are amazing.

Yup but it's an investment in money, equipment and time that requires you doing this kind of thing quite a lot.  :)

At a place called Wamberg. Traditional local style of farm. The barn on the right dates back to ca. 1650 AD.

Some interesting and very nice photos in this thread.  I'm getting used to my new (to me) dslr and took this photo downtown a few days ago.  I think it was one of my better ones so far:

I'm using imgur to host these photos and using a Large thumbnail on the forum.  They lose quite a bit of sharpness in the process.  Any other ideas as to getting a better appearing photo on the forum?  I may try decreasing the resolution on my computer before uploading (these are all taken at maximum resolution in jpeg and raw), rather than using the large thumbnail format.

Thanks for looking,

John.

Another photo from a few days back.  This was an old school and I believe it is now an admin building for the school district.  The light lately has been bad (not a lot of blue sky) so this was a fair representation of the actual lighting conditions.

Unfortunately I had to take the photo "head on" or be happy with a bunch of big utility poles in the photo.

While taking this photo a lady drove up to the nearby stop sign and shouted out the window - "What camera would you recommend".  She had traffic waiting behind her and told me to "hurry up" with some advice.  I was a bit flabbergasted at this and told her to get a point and shoot.  She drove off happy (I think).

John.

Use the Huge thumbnail , It will give you the largest size possible on the forum other than the full res picture which will be way too big.

Unfortunately the largest size default on the forum isn't big enough IMHO. When post the same pics on another forum they are a bit bigger and look much better with more detail than the ones I post here.
