Its a strange effect isn't it.  Yes I took it.  I'm hunting the car boot sales at the moment for a cheap Canon compact that I can hack the firmware on.  Then I plan on removing the IR blocking filter over the CCD and fitting in its place an IR only filter.

Longish exposure shot through a visible light filter on a very bright day.

As far as I'm aware there is no equivalent to CHDK (customised Canon firmware) for Nikons

The twin shipbuilding gantry cranes of Harland & Wolff are iconic throughout Belfast. They are named after the Biblical figures Samson and Goliath. When I was younger one was white and the other yellow, now both are yellow. This is also where the Titanic was built  And before anyone says anything 'it was alright when it left here' 





HMS Caroline is a C-class light cruiser of the British Royal Navy and was launched and commissioned in 1914, she currently acts as a static headquarters and training ship for the Royal Naval Reserve based in Belfast. For a ship almost 100 years old it is still an impressive sight 


Not a pic but after my H&W pics you must watch this video. It shows a smaller crane colliding with one of the large gantry cranes. On the other gantry crane a group painters obviously sensed the inevitable and began recording.

BTW we don't all sound like these guys; full marks if you can understand them though Colourful language included!
