This morning, I kinda resembled my avatar. *chuckles* State surplus office finally got a chance to sort and price the last several months of TSA and court seized sharps. So, when I get ready to pay, I've had to put the items I want piled in my hat becuase I'm running out of hand, and I'm grinning like a madman.

Thankfully, they know me.

So, my take...
Calipers, not the greatest but a good price for them.
Set of quarter inch bits with the holder (it was a buck for the holder and the bits were free)
Spyderco Delica
Opinel
CRKT Mini Guppie
2x ToolLogic tool cards

And the good stuff....
Vic Soldier, 03 stamp, nearly new- looks like the small screw driver has been used a couple times and it has opened a beer.
Alox Bantam- looks new, not a scratch or scuff on it.
2x Tinker Smalls
Spartan (Standard?), with solid awl, grooved corkscrew, solid scales, spacer mounted key ring and gold crest, but not marked Victoria (missed listing this one)
Electrician
Swissbit, with the memory (need to set up a VM on my linux box to check it out safely)
Outrider

And a Leatherman PST in nearly cherry condition- it's been carried some, used a little, not a speck of crud or rust in it, still factory tight.

Why do you think I burn an hour of vacation time when there is a sale? Picked up a Puma folder a couple years back who's serial put it going into the same world I did, for less than ten bucks. Uhm.... Yeah, and they wonder why there is half a dozen of us outside when they open the door. :P

My alox collecting is slowing down a bit, some are hard to find now.
After my alox soldiers I like the other old soldiers to.
Time now for more soldiers and other vintage SAK's.
I have to learn now what all these SAK's are worth and what they are.

I don't know how old this one is, I bought it today at ebay for $30.

The next seven SAK's I bought these today all together in one sale, not to expensive
just nice to start with.
Elsener WK stamp alox soldier 65.

Wenger Tahara ''40.

Those are not soldiers, technically, so if you would like to part with them... :pok:

I really like the look of those evo-grip Wengers...  The only thing that's really held me back from getting something like a Ranger is that I've never had the chance to actually hold one and check it out in person to get an idea of how they're made and what the QC is like.

On other fronts, my Work Champ came today!!!  Woo hoo!!!  :mail:  It's definitely a massive tool!  Heavy for sure, but it feels very solid and well built.  I particularly like the side slider on the scale for the lock for the main blade.  And yeah, it's on the wrong side if you're a righty...

The only things I've noticed about the tool so far is that the machining on the file and saw teeth weren't thoroughly finished.  There's a lot of machining flash on the saw's teeth, and the file is the same way, but less so.  I know that stuff will come off with the first use or two, but it's a drag it wasn't cleaned up in the factory before shipping.  The surface of the file is very aggressive as well... I'd say the most aggressive cutting surface I've ever seen on a SAK.  I have no doubt it'll make short work of any regular high carbon steel.  I'd even bet on it for sharpening knives, except for the fact it's not really fine enough for such duty, though you could certainly do so in a pinch.  I think it'd be fine for an axe too.  I generally sharpen my axe with a combo file, that has a course single cut smurf surface on one side, and a medium double cut mill surface on the other.

I also got one of the large Vic sheaths for it, which is decent quality, though it could be made out of heavier duty materials.  It doesn't have a horizontal mounting option either, which is a drag.  It's going to go on the waist belt of my day pack that I use for hiking and camping trips, opposite my Jet III Pro ST I keep on the other side.

Overall, a very nice tool.  Not pliers based, of course, but I have other tools for that anyway.  Except for the small finish details, I'm quite happy with it.

My Wenger Champ arrived this morning. Strangely enough When I looked at the Wenger website it states "Wenger issues a limited lifetime warranty for all pocket knives" the guarantee that came with my champ penknife states "Warranty valid five years". :ahhh

Although they'll most likely still warranty the knife after five years, technically the lifetime warranty is now only applicable to the US; no clue as to why.
