@ ColoSwiss: Thank you!

Trouble in Germany is, that  government agencies aren't any more. Most agencies were sold/privatized/whatevered and have to run with a minimum of personnel, without any major investment into the infra-structure.

Basically every cent earned flows into the purse of some private owner or the so-called stock exchange, but when something goes wrong and there is a loss, it's still the taxpayer who has to pay.

We were utterly impressed how efficient, clean, punctual and well-planned and done everything in Japan is. They are the kings of organization, planning and service, and it is just weird that Germany is still quite prestigious and seen as some kind of model.

After two weeks in Japan, returning to Germany felt like returning into a third-world-country, inhabited by a strange bunch of Neanderthals.

Tomcat

Same here in England with all the privatisation which taxpayers still look after. Only people at the top benefit.

And Japan...i know! They have their issues, but service and efficiency are the best there. I feel the same coming back here to ye olde England. Atleast we've developed a synical, dry humour to deal with it all though  ;)

Are SAKs popular in Japan at all? I've never noticed

I appreciate mine. It basically resides in my cooler or lunchbox. It goes everywhere my family and I go adventuring to. The 111 blade length lends itself well for cutting bread and other food items. And the spoon and fork are really nice and smooth.

I just really like the box too!  :D

Nice grabs. Enjoy!

From SAKWiki:
The Weekender model is a serrated main blade version of the Spartan. This model has been reported discontinued in the past, but resurfaced as part of a special picnic set (ref: 2008 Catalog), and was produced again in 2012 and started to appear in Target Stores in the US, and from a small number of other retailers.  Since 2008 Victorinox has used the name Serrated Spartan in the US.

Thanks, just knew it as Spartan because of the tools.

That's the Picnicker. I like it's locking blade, too. The wavy blades cut even better than the regular ones.

I got mine a few years ago, also as part of a picnic set. It had white scales, which I replaced with camo. The whites are on a plain Spartan now.
