Victorinox 74mm Alox OC Beginner
 :woohoo:

Should have had this for the Minimalist Challenge! It truly is at the apex of Victorinox minimalism.

Comparison with some other Victorinox minimalists:

Top to bottom:
  • 74mm Beginner
  • 84mm Excelsior
  • 84mm Bantam

Comparison with Victorinox 74mm stainless steel Prince:

It makes the 91mm Alox Solo look enormous!

Congrats to all for some fine SAKs.  Those one layer SAKs are neat.

Evilbay at times has deals hard to pass on believe me I know .  It seemed like sometimes I was on a roll then it just stopped.  I actually had fun trolling putting in all types of odd searches.  I found my first Spirit typing in Victorinox pliers and poof one showed up for $40 buy it now.  I couldn't hit buy quickly enough.

Enjoying all the snags you guys come up with.  I'm on a bit of a holding pattern myself.

Could not agree more..... The thrill of the HUNT is FUN to me. :tu:
Plus it passes time late nites at work for me...... Heck , phone and computer work gets boring ....FAST , and Bay odd searches kind of breaks up that SMURF:D
Also , it def. goes in Spurts ..... win some , lose some , & shoulda woulda coulda on others!  :D

These two came in recently and needed to be cleaned up a little, although there was no significant Crudmium plating to speak of. The sellers had done whatever major cleaning was needed before selling them. The basic liners tools and blades are all but perfect. The red scales could have been polished out, but didn't want red on either so couldn't justify spending the time doing that.

Put emerald scales on the Climber, which is a Super Tinker with a corkscrew instead of a Phillips:

Not certain yet if I will keep this one or hold it until a deserving soul locally emerges and gift it to them. It and a Camper I'm still cleaning up were bundled with a 91mm Can Key Tinker I wanted, and the price for all three was superb.

Put Black Plus scales on this two decade old SwissChamp.

Has the same tool set as the current SwissChamp, including all the back layer tools, with some older versions of them such as the v1 Magnifier, matching long Phillips, round handle mini-driver in the corkscrew, scissors screw (has spring follower groove though), and v2 pliers with the wider contoured handle but not the crimper. From these characteristics I place its manufacture between 1991 and 1995.

Possibly my sister-in-law's. She lost two Swiss Champs to the TSA minions before she learned to quit carrying them in her purse. Still keeps one in her desk at work; a lot of times its easier to pull out the tool than call the janitor.

The seller told me he goes bidding on lot's at Amsterdam Airport.
So if she traveled there with a Champ in her luggage, but traveled back with it in her purse...

I do feel like it's got to hurt for the person who gets it confiscated though, so many nice tools, everytime a stressed owner...

Congrats! :2tu:
Just looked and it's not in the 2015 or 2016 catalogs. Quickly skimmed through the 2014 and didn't see it in that one either (has the 93mm ribbed Alox scattered in with the 91mm Cellidor).

I look at some of those "TSA" auctions and feel pain seeing some of the larger and discontinued SAKs that are relinquished at the checkpoints.
