Mail call! Got another two red soldiers! :salute:

(Image removed from quote.)

Elsener 64 and Wenger 64

Aaaand second mail call of the day!

Another red soldier :D

(Image removed from quote.)

My third Elsener 64

By the way funny to see that when I take the photo with natural light and white background the red Soldiers look orange, and when I take the picture on my desk with artificial light it looks more red

Nice finds, that third 64' looks mint lets see some pictures with the tools open

They do sort of look orange in the right lighting IMO this is something to look for when purchasing one from the mid to late 60's in the transition years from red to silver. There are a few up for sale that were originally bare alox and recently taken apart anodized and repinned. These apear to be a deeper red

Do you notice any quality difference between the elsener and the early wengers besides the deeper stamp on the elsener?

You mean like these (new anodized and repinned)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/122295892378

Apart from the deeper stamp on the Elsener I can't really see or feel any difference between Elsener and Wenger.

The third 64 elsener is not mint but it's definitely the best one out of the three!

Here are some pictures, in artifcial light so they look really red:

Found this at an antique/thrift store today. Bantam. No toothpick, tweezers or keyring. Is this an economy model?

Just got this run of the mill Cadet for pretty cheap. Waiting for some more 84mm scissors to float my way....or might harvest the nail file for 91mm use and toss in a 84mm combo tool and ditch the openers layer...or might just leave it.

I have this Cadet II Mod incoming, took a while to find an old 84mm Golfer for the Scissors, but managed to find one not too expensive in the end:

Also this Waiter made from the leftover parts (note the older style Combo tool and fluted corkscrew):

I just picked up a GAK 111mm off the Bay.  Never owned one before but thought a Hiker on steroids might be neat to try out on a hiking/camping trip.  I don't have pics yet that I can post.  It's looking like it might be an honest veteran as its coming from Germany.  Have to get the pouch to go with it!

Funny what light and background can do. This a different picture of the same two knives:

It's all about white balance.  Often cameras are good at assessing the white balance in daylight, but less accurate under artificial light.  If your camera has a manual white balance option, you can use a white sheet of paper under the same lighting to set the white balance correctly.  (Or you can buy an expensive calibrated "grey card" from a photography shop, but a sheet of copier paper does just fine for this purpose.)

I use the camera of my iphone, don't think if I can adjust the white balance.

The weird thing is my Nokia Lumia lets me adjust white balance... but once it has got it wrong adjusting the white balance only lets you select different levels of wrongness!
(Though 99% of the time it gets it right. I don't know why Lumia's were so unpopular - for the money they were great phones!)

Nice one Thunderpants!
Cheers!
I may do the unspeakable and pop the grey scales off in exchange for some Realtree Snows.... I love the Realtree Snows and I love scissors - I can't believe Wenger never put the two together....
Even better, I'd like to add scissors to this thing. But if I broke an Evohunter I'd feel like a moron for eternity.
