Good mail call today! 2 84mm customs (Cadet II X and Waiter) courtesy of Steven Pruette (the Waiter is what is left from the Golfer I pillaged for scissors) and a NIB Wenger SI that he purchased on my behalf (for $29.99!)

Same thickness as a Pioneer/Soldier:

Old style combo tool and fluted corkscrew:

Congratulations, FolderBeholder!

I never heard of this SAK and had to look it up.  Quite an exotic and scarce acquisition!  You must have quite a collection.

I didn't know there was a Cadet II X.  Like the Pioneer X, this is a SAK that interests me.  Congratulations!

I started off my Explorer acquisitions with two Amazon purchases (black and red scales) and was dismayed that the magnifiers I received did not match the older ones pictured.  At this point, I knew about the older grey-framed 8x glass magnifiers and the 5x plastic magnifiers.  I didn't know about the 6x clear plastic framed glass magnifiers. I set about finding Explorers with the grey-framed 8x glass magnifiers and got carried away.  I don't know how many I purchased before putting the brakes on but I managed to stop before needing some intervention.  :-)

I have resisted a number of really good deals on Explorers until this morning.  I don't know whether is was because of the Sapphire scales or that the orange lanyard is a complementary color to blue but I had hit the "Buy-it-Now" in less time that it takes to blink.

Haha, what were you saying about needing some intervention?  :)

I have three Explorer's myself.  Two with the new mag 6x and one old mag 8x also with sapphire plus scales which is the one I carry the most.  :)
