After seeing a recent thread topic about not "Getting" the Traveller, I decided to take a second look at a SAK I used to ignore. 74mm is new territory for me but I decided to give it a try provided I could find one in good condition.  Happily, I found three that I really liked from the same seller.  I got busy when the one I liked the best concluded (with no bid from me) so I placed a healthy bid on the two remaining Travellers and won both auctions. The tools are in great condition but the scales are worn. The red scales aren't bad but the black scales will need to be replaced. I haven't taken my own photos yet and will probably wait until I've performed my own cleaning and replaced the black scales. Meanwhile, here are the sellers photos:

I thought the traveller was a 91mm SAK (and traveler a 85mm)

Which tool loads this 74mm SAK ?

Yep agreed GF1983 - They do - You can see the Orange Peeler blade and the dimple on the nail file.

I think NCJ means the Executive - not a Traveller !!

Also the thread about "Not getting the xxxx" - Was about the Executive

I had previously shared my most recent acquisition but after receiving some e-bay "Traveller" reminders, succumbed to the power of suggestion and substituted "Traveller" for "Executive". Happily, my mistake was pointed out quickly. In the interest of correcting any misunderstanding I caused, I am repeating the show and tell. :)

There was a recent topic that caught my attention, in which the OP stated that he didn't "Get" the Executive. I had to smile, because I didn't "Get" the Executive either. The poor samples that I had seen didn't attract my attention or convince me that the Executive was worth getting. Remembering that this model is popular with a number of people, I decided it needed a closer look.

My first visit was to SAKWiki for a closer look at the tool set:  http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-browse_image.php?imageId=1382

All useful tools, including the orange peeler (for opening plastic blister packages). OK, time to get one from e-bay. A quick search found three interesting auctions from the same seller.  When I missed out of the one I liked best by forgetting to bid before the auction closed, I put a healthy bid on the two remaining auctions from this seller and won them both.  The red Executive/Classic set looked pretty good but the black scales looked rather worn (I've already ordered replacement scales).  The tools from both sets were in excellent condition.

I am very pleased with these latest acquisitions!

Both photos are from the seller:

Handyman & Executive

I got two SAKs recently, the Executive is the most recent, got it yesterday. I was a bit surprised to see it didn't come in a box. It was a sleeve with a product number instead. Haven't seen those since I was a kid.

The Executive is a lot smaller than the 91mm model I usually carry, but it feels like a 'real' knife. I like the compact form factor and the toolset.
I was also a bit surprised by the nailfile, just perpendicular grooves without crosshatching. I have yet to try it out.
Also I'm not the proud owner of an orange peeler. That was on my wish list for a long time. Sure, the Minichamp has one, but I consider this the real deal  :P

I'm really curious about how it will fare in daily life. It's going to replace my Handyman as an EDC SAK in the "Minimalist Challenge using only the Executive" challenge.

Very nice!!! The Handyman is a great tool and I am very impressed with the Executive (just picked up two after ignoring them for so long). In my case, the orange peeler will be a plastic blister pack opener. The two shiny black SAKs posed for a photo look great! I hope you get years of enjoyment from them!

My latest aquisitions have BSA insignias. The first is an Amazon purchase--the Eagle Scout Explorer (my 23rd Explorer) and the second is a BSA Classic (photo attached).

I've got to be careful when looking at Explorers since so many appeal to me as one I have got to have. I just snatched up this green Explorer on e-bay--this will be my 24th Explorer!

Thanks! I already have a new old stock in box mint copy with hunter green scales. I am planning to put this in my daily rotation. The seller's other photos showed that this needs a good cleaning, so this will get a good spa treatment and lube with Victorinox (food safe) oil.

By the way, I noticed yesterday that you were the one who started the Explorer Appreciation topic thread.  Way to go!
