80s champion for a fiver
Lady apparently did not care what it was or what it was worth. She just wanted to clear out a garage full of fishing supplies.

Dang, it happened again! Came across this "Swiss pocketknife" For a price much too low to pass up.

This time it's a vintage passenger with what appear to be aluminum tipped tweezers!  :ahhh

I didn't think they made passengers that early!! :ahhh

The Passenger is a rare find!  I came across one lately and let it go since I had the key magnifier SAKs that interested me (Scientist, multiple Yeoman's, Explorer, Woodsman, Champion & Swiss Champ). I might have gone for it but have to draw the line somewhere, especially since I keep getting sidetracked with Explorers. The latest Explorer is a red Eddie Bauer.

Browsing some yardsales and festival booths over the weekend I scored a not-terribly-old Spartan, and a Hoffritz branded Pocket Pal.

I assume the boyscout edition was... but they probably sold them elsewhere, right?

I'm trying to figure out the history of the Passenger/Alpineer.

The first one was stolen and  it seems like I couldn’t live without it. Ordered a new one.

Thanks. The Warthog looks pretty darn cool in person. I wonder if anyone here has collected the entire set of them? I know that DLT Trading has the Swiss Champ, Huntsman, Tinkier, and Hiker version of the Warthog, too.

I got these pretty SAKs today. Boxed and although the boxes are a little worn, the SAKs are in new condition. I can still smell the factory oil!

Mystery boxes!

One of the boxes has a "130 years" print on the side. So it's not that old. But I knew that in advance.

130 Years

This box holds a Spartan! It's my first Spartan. Tang stamps put it after 2011. So it's a new one. The manual in the box is dated 2014. So that's a pretty good hint that it was bought not that long ago. I like this one the Spartan is a bit of an iconic model after all.

And the other box... a Bantam! From the photo's in the advertisement I thought that it was an ecoline SAK. But I don't believe they carry that line anymore. So it's just a nylon scaled Bantam. Again, tang stamps place it >2011 and the manual in the box is from 2014. So it's also a recent knife.
I actually like the Bantam more now that I have had it in my hand. It's very compact. But the blade is much more usable than the 74mm large blade.

I always dispised the nylon scales. I thought they looked cheap. But the feel is very nice (I already knewthis from my StayGlow scales) and now I'm actually a fan. All I can think now is I wish I had one of these in black nylon...
There is one oddity I noticed. And perhaps it's an illusion. But the hotstamp seems to be about 1mm off center.
I have yet to measure this, but say that it's true, is it very unusual for Victorinox to pass something like this past quality control?

I'm very happy with my new haul. Very nice additions to the collection.

When I temporarily misplaced my Spartan, I found a replacement that was advertised to be a blue Spartan but was actually an 84mm Tourist. Back to the drawing board, I purchased a used Spartan but the main blade was bent.  I upped my purchasing game with two new Spartans (Silver Tech & White scales) and some additional new and used purchases. This wooden scale Spartan was the latest to show up for mail call...
