I got a Workchamp for cheap - the lock wasn't working but all the tools look new. When I took the scales off I found the lock spring was still in there, just it had gone adrift.
Anyway, I don't like red scales very much so I put some funky Hunter scales on there instead. I lose the lock (and the toothpick etc!) but it looks and feels nicer.

That's looking very handsome. May I ask where you got the orange scales? Is there a place you ordered them?

Hi Mactire, as well as offering some great custom alox (though not much at the moment, I see) the Schweizermesser shop in Germany sells all sorts of bits and bobs, including scales.
They have these orange ones, the 111mm camo, and the Desert tan for 6,90 which seems jolly reasonable. If you need help getting some I can add some to my next order (can't say when that will be) and send them on to you.

It's my first Pioneer. Slim and sturdy.

Oh boy, I love that olive. I think it should be the default colour for the Pioneer, being of military origin   :D

I hate boxes... I keep them for two years then realise I have a big box filled with little boxes filled with air. Into the garbage (well, recycling) they go... to make space for more boxes.

I ordered 2 of them directly from the Victorinox website and they were 49 euros each - with free shipping to Germany. Maybe people in Switzerland get them cheaper. I thought 49 was a bit much to be honest and probably won't bother with them next year.

It was a bit unfortunate how Victorinox rolled them out... they sold out quickly and appeared on ebay for 99 euros - some people, thinking the chance to buy one would never come again, paid even more - then another batch appeared on the Victorinox site. Again, these soon sold out and were reselling at inflated prices... then yet another batch turned up towards the end of last year. So some people ended up paying 99 bucks or more for something they could have had for much less.
I think if you paid 60 euros now, when they really are sold out, you did OK.  Had you ordered a single Nespresso Pioneer from VIctorinox you'd have had to pay shipping which would have made it ca. 55 euros. (That's why I ordered 2! To qualify for free shipping!)

I saw one of those purple Nespressos on ebay - the seller didn't know it was special and advertised as a "Victorinox Taschenmesser"... it slipped under everyone's radar and sold for 30 euros or so. (Like a fool I forgot to bid!)
But the ones that are correctly labelled Nespresso blah-blah are selling for ridiculous prices. Like the first Damascus Pioneer it will probably always be the grail of the series; a bit overvalued if you ask me!
