Cadet Plus.  Ok so let me explain.  I went to the flea market and stopped in a booth.  I saw a Black Pioneer in good shape with signs of use and wear as well as a Red Ribbed Cadet 2.  The guy immediately stepped over to me to tell me these were HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER.  SIGH.  The small blade on the Cadet 2 was mangled, sharpened to within centimeters of its life.  It was in "ok" shape.  I have 2 of these so I put it down.  He grabs a box and presents some SAKs.  He was so excited to say to me, "Have you ever seen these?"

2 Explorers one with white scales and the other basic.  1 Alox Classic in silver.  1 Silver Cadet.  1 Translucent Yellow Classic. 1 Green Cadet.  1 Cadet Plus  :ahhh.  All of which he told me were VERY HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER.  I ask how much for the Black Pioneer.  He said, "For you, $50".  I then ask how much for the Green Cadet ( I recently saw one for about $30), and the Cadet Plus ( I have no clue what these go for, I tried to look on my phone ).  He quickly say, "Oh no, these are not for sale"

  :twak:

Sometimes these venders do stupid stuff like that.  I take it in stride and tell him he's got some nice Victorinox Swiss Knives.  I also say I hope he has a change in mind and would consider me before he offers them to someone else.

I'll be back next Sunday in the hopes of getting that Cadet Plus.  I'm putting it out into the universe so it will happen.  For now I got nothing

Get all over that ribbed Cadet 2 if he sells it at a reasonable price because of the small blade... You can get Victorinox to fix it for next to nothing :D

Good luck on haggling with that guy...

Why display stuff if it's not for sale then?

There's a shop in Geneva with a Wenger Giant in the window... I tried to buy it and she wouldn't sell it...

Here's my latest SAK. It's a Schrade Century CN35 Steward, in green. Unfortunately it came without paperwork, in a box for a red CN71 Gemini, which had a CN35 sticker placed over it. It was listed as new old stock, and it does appear to be new. The springs are super, SUPER snappy. I can barely get the corkscrew out. The blade is also virgin and super, super sharp.

For those not in the know, Victorinox provided Schrade with the blanks, which they finished. The scales are slightly different, with different cutouts for the different scale tools. But they will fit on a Victorinox knife. All the internal parts are identical, blades and liners and whatnot. Just marked with "ISC Stainless Germany" instead of "Victorinox".

Charles.

what you can't see is the liners are damaged and I think to make it useable I will have to take it to pieces,
I need to find a big bag of enthusiasm before I start this one

@ Syem,  I thought about that.  When he said "Highly sought after" I knew he wanted some stupid money.  I have 2 already, one in red and one in silver with clip point small blade.  I would like to mod one tho.......  Hmmm.......  we'll see what he says next Sunday.

There are several venders that display items that aren't for sale.  Some even have the audacity to get angry or annoyed if you ask how much

I once picked up a NIB Space pen ( bullet ).  I asked how much and the lady snatched it out my hand and said "OH THIS ISN'T FOR SALE".

Theres another guy who has lots of SAKs and will only let you look at 2 then if you don't buy he's puts a towel over his display and says "I'm closed".

I crack up every time.  I used to mess with him but its no longer fun.  I can tell you, there are some REAL characters there.  Some real interesting people.

I can totally feel you, man!
As a flea market prowler myself, I can testify sometimes you really find the "oddest" vendors, to put it nicely.

The worse it happened to me was when I was looking at some vintage cameras and picked up one. After a bit the vendor tells me to stop "groping" his expensive cameras. I told him that he shouldn't put his things on a flea market table if he didn't want people to touch them, but what really got on my nerves is he continued to use the word "grope", so after a bit I snapped and told him to go screw himself.
The next time I saw him, which was a while later, I went up to his table right in front of him, put my hands randomly on a bunch of his cameras for a few seconds, then left, without saying a word. From his looks I don't think he recognized me and just thought he was a weirdo!

My latest SAK is nothing special, just an ordinary Wenger Ranger from the -now defunct- Basel-Landschaft Hafenpolizei. They're al over the place for sometime at Ebay, isn't it...? :D

Apparently now there are two of these in the Netherlands

And the seller told me only three were made!

I've already got the Commander I think...
Even though they're relatively pleasing to the eye I don't particularly care for them. Long story short let's just say I'm extremely glad Switzerland is not part of the EU.
Wouldn't mind snatching the Alox Traveler though

A Spartan with the colorful crosses scale. I only bought this one for the scales, they will go on a modded Super Tinker (small blade replaced with an 84 mm nailfile) which I'll give to the Mrs. as her new EDC.

I've been waiting months for this little guy... Found it in a shop but upon buying it I noticed one of the scale was chipped. The guy said he would send it to Vic to get it repaired/replaced so I left a down-payment and waited... waited... waited...
And its finally back!
