Got my +B Yeoman and my Hiker (soon to be Whittler?) today:

+B Yeoman:

Hiker:

I wasn't ready for how thin the Hiker would be. Here's a family shot with all my 3 layer Victorinox SAKs and a couple others, for reference. Left to right and thin to thick: Hiker, Super Tinker, Soldier, +B Yeoman, Spartan Lite, Explorer, CyberTool 34:

Yes you did.  :)  Actually, I think ALL of my lanyards that get used were made by you.  I figured that a SAK needs a lanyard to make it a bit easier to get out of the pocket.  This place has sure made me a convert to that!

Ashley, I'm a proud owner of your fine work, then.

It does indeed make the knife a LOT easier for pocket carry. I don't do much of that, but I've been fiddling with the Tinker since it got here, and sliding it in my pocket while doing other things.

Mentioned earlier, but now it's here...

My first SAK, a Tinker in great shape.

Congratulations!

 :climber:

How do you like it? Are you going to pocket carry it for a while?

Now, let me give you a proper welcome to SAK-land:

We hope to see you here more often now!

A bit late for Valentines' Day, but still nice to have: Victorinox Elle & Lui (Classic and Spartan).

It's a drawn out process.  Scibeer could describe better than me.  But it is far superior than the Victorinox  anodizing, and lasts far longer!!! :tu:

It's nice. I won't likely pocket carry it, since I don't really ever pocket carry, unless I'm just messing around at home.

I was shocked at how light it is; just over 2oz. That's about equivalent to a Gerber Dime, and not a lot heavier than a Crosscut or Micra. That's a lot of function for not much weight. This is the same thing I noticed about the VIC Classic my hubby carried. That one is only 3/4 of an ounce.

I may carry it in my purse for a while, but odds of me ever needing it are very slim. I do like the tool selection for the weight, though. All my day-to-day functions are pretty well covered by 2 keychain MTs (one scissor based, one plier based), and a Spyderco Delica (good oho blade).

She's slow to come back from The Darkside, fellas.

Being honest and open-minded, do you really NEED anything more than maybe a Deluxe Tinker?

Maybe a Power Plier when on an electrical job...

#1 tool I use is scissors. I've carried a Crosscut for 15 years, and it simply cannot be beat for performance of its scissors. Second most used item is blade for cutting open packages. There's virtually no name brand tool that won't do that. I have eyeglasses, and while I don't need them often, when I need an eyeglass screwdriver, it is a real NEED. Crosscut covers that. I do occasional computer hardware stuff, and for that I need a small phillips, delicate pliers, and sometimes a small flathead, all covered with my OTHER keychain tool (a Sheffield 12010).

Of those, the tinker covers... emm... the blade. Phillips on it is too big for my needs.

I like the Tinker. REALLY. it's just a step up in scale from the tools I need. If I were in a position where I was likely to need full-size Phillips, flathead, larger pen-knife blade, etc. Heck, I might just throw it in my purse even though I'm not likely to need it because it's only 2.2oz! But it's not going to replace what I carry.

If I added the Tinker, I think it, along with the Crosscut, Sheffield, AND Delica still weigh less than the Leatherman Wave. Right now I'm trying the Wave out, and have set the Delica aside (to see if the Wave can hold the job of OHO blade). Maybe more detail than you wanted, but that's what's up right now.

Agreed. CyberTool 34.

I've got one, and it's pretty great.

It's got three sizes of Phillips, three sizes of Torx, a medium flat head, an eyeglass screwdriver, an allen driver, two sizes of hex drivers, scissors, pliers, pen, pin, hook, corkscrew, plus everything the Tinker has.

Lynn,

I'm just like you, the tools I use most are scissors and a blade.  After that is a fine point phillips driver, like a #1 or a #0.  I've been having trouble finding a single tool that covers all those needs well.  I also want a flat head driver and a bottle opener as well for good measure.

The one tool I have that does all of that the best is my modded Vic Outrider.  Steve took the saw out for me, so it's a layer slimmer now, and very easy to carry.  It's a 111 mm model, so it is a bit long in the tooth so to speak, but it's still pocketable.  (Although, I typically carry it in a holster on the strap of my EDC bag.)

In my search for something smaller, I've decided a Compact with a cybertool layer will do exactly everything I need in the smallest possible package.  I've got the compact, but haven't yet bought the CT parts.  Once I get them, I'll work something out for the mod with Steve or GigaHz.  GH already has that exact same mod, and he's the one who gave me the inspiration for it.  So you might want to look into a Compact; it's a very nice and easily pocketable tool, and I'm pretty sure it'll still be very pocketable once it's got the CT layer in it.

Once you discover the absolute and total coolness of a modded SAK, you'll never go back!  :D

:salute: With the lanyard, like I said you might want to melt the ends of the paracord a bit more to secure it, or undo one stitch-worth and melt that. I was about 2mm short when I made that one!

Yeah, super glue'll do the trick nicely I should think :D I can always send you another if you mess it up. I have hundreds of feet of cord... went a bit mad buying some for a lanyard a while ago!

Why on earth would you need to EDC a daffodil?

How do you keep it watered?

I think he was just demonstrating a common every-day-type use for a Tomo: cutting flowers.

By the way, how did you know that was a daffodil? Hand over your man card. (unless you're a woman, of course)
