With all talk about the Ranger and my past brief experience with it I was curious again.  I had a buddy with one so I bought it.  I was pretty excited since it was an older one with the camping logo.  This is my first SAK with a camping logo.  No hook, no chisel.  Its in pretty great condition.

Thanks all.  It certainly got me thinking about the perfect SAK.  It made me think of the Champion.  I feel like the inline phillips is just such a strong tool that those with it are a tad more to my liking.

My latest, a blue-scaled Fischermesser (non wood saw version).  She looks pretty, but sadly has cracked liners:

I believe the version without a wood saw is fairly uncommon.

Mine is identical:

Agreed about the liners, thankfully I wasn't planning on using it, so I shouldn't notice it too much.  :salute:

I guess Vic could repair it if you were inclined to send to back to the mother ship?

The Ranger is a great SAK. Still carrying mine on my backpack.
It had a lot of uses in the last weekend.
Sharpening tools with file, cutting PVC tubes with wooden saw, cutting tapes, openning beers!
It's seconded only to the more pocketable trail guide in my preference.

Hard to find these without cracked liners.  Still a nice find and good for display.

Looks like early '60s to me. Is the tweezer tip Nickel Silver?

Very nice FB, like the blue.  I have the later red version (early 70’s??) with the same tool set.  Couldn’t find it in Sakwiki but I did find a post here on MTO that called it a Fisherman Deluxe.  👍👍
