Gonna be my last acquisition for quite a while, but I've got a CT Lite with translucent emerald scales on the way from GigaHz... should be here in a couple of days.  I'm really looking forward to it.

I got an orange Alox classic on monday.  I have an orange alox flight, silver alox farmer and black alox cadet in the mail right now.  They should be here tomorrow or Friday.  I really got into the alox lately.

A Wabe. It feels weird. I think I have a CT around here that needs new scales.

Came quite close to buying a mini-champ today but chickened out.  Although I'm putting that off for awhile, the drool-factor doesn't lessen.  I keep thinking how well that orange peeler could come in handy as well as the actual pointed nail file.

Nothing new in the knife line. Picked up a couple of books on photography and been playing around with different backgrounds, lighting, etc. There's some improvement, but I'm still jealous of most of the photos appearing here.

Karl

All very good pictures, but I think you need to find the camera manual and look up white-balance or whatever that manufacturer is calling it.  It's probably set to auto, and it looks like it made the wrong choice (ps.. sometimes the 'wrong' choice is the right choice).  They could be underexposed, but I think it's more likely the whitebalance.  Otherwise the pictures look very well lit.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will try and give it a shot. I think the blades are coming out better, but the handle colors leave a lot to be desired.

Karl, are you using a digital camera, or a film camera?

On the odd chance you might be using film, one trick for getting nice colors is to use a 'portrait' film.  They're typically 160 speed, but are shot (and processed) at 100.  This increases the saturation without any over exposure.

I miss using film; despite some of its limitations, I still think that digitals don't give the same quality as good old film.

Heinz,

I finally broke down and switched over to digital several years ago. Glad I did. A lot more convenient, either taking shots of knives and posting them, or on a trip where I can edit as I go. Being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Nice try, but the handle is actually a dark green that I've never been able to photograph properly. I'll try a shot tomorrow out in the sunlight and see how it turns out. I have two of them with that color handle, both from Germany.

Ha ha... I saw the handle had a lot of green in it... I thought it was a color error from the lighting.

Attached one without green removed, but hard to see unless you put the black one side by side.

My CT Lite arrived this afternoon from GigaHz... whoa it's a fat one!  Just a wee bit wider than my Swiss Champ and CT 41 (about .5 mm)!

It's got the newer mag-glass on it, made of what seems like acrylic.  I'm surprised by it, because while its magnification is a bit less than the old style ones, the larger size lets you pull it back further from what you're looking at and still keep focus.  It gives a larger field of view, too.  I actually like it, and I thought it'd just be crappy.

A fresh set of batteries, a piece of para-cord and some beads for a lanyard, and it'll be ready for EDC on my belt.   :tu:

2012 limited Spartan, numbered:  2012-027137. The little booklet is missing from the box though...Sent a message to the dealer, I hope this will turn out good (altough I don't have any high hopes for that...).

A  silver +B Cadet plus arrived this morning, well a note telling me to pitch up at the sorting office with the appropriate funds to pay the import duty did. So I did and it is  very nice. Just can not see it getting much use,not unless I lose my +B lumberjack.

Here's a better shot of the Wenger Ranger with dark green handles, compared with the common black handles. Against a natural stone background the difference is pretty obvious. On a wood background it's harder to tell them apart.

Oh that's an uncommon Ranger :tu:

I hadn't bought any SAKs for a little over 4 months, until this nice Secretary. I don't really like SAKs with company logos, but since it's Victorinox's ow name I can make an exception:

And this Cybertool 34 is not exactly new (I have EDCd it for almost a decade now), but it now has new green scales courtesy of rotokid:

Looks splendid in green - quite fancy doing that to mine too.

Are they plus scales with the pen slot too?
