Got my first pre-61 Soldier today. It's a Wenger m1908 from 1944. That happens to be my father's birth year, which makes it extra special.

Gorgeous knife!   Looks like it has been double-stamped?

It has been. The seller thought it might might have been sent in for repair and stamped again at that time. Seems plausible but I don't know if there are other explanations.

I was at an estate sale today and found this early Wenger Bass for $12.

I have to admit I'm not a big Wenger fan, but I don't have another SAK with a design on the scale - fish scales on the scale  :ahhh  - so had to pick it up.

The scales show some wear and it needed sharpening, but otherwise is in good shape.

SAKs:
58mm: Bijou (3), Classic SD (7), Mini Champ Plus (mod), Alox Classic SD, Rambler (3), Companion
65mm: Wenger Esquire
74mm: Executive (2)
85mm: Traveler, Delemont S10, Bass
91mm: Champion "c", Swiss Champ (4), Explorer (3), Deluxe Tinker, Huntsman, Serrated Spartan/Weekender, Explorer Plus, Deluxe Explorer Plus (mod), Outdoorsman Plus, Champion "a", Champion Plus, Timekeeper Alarm, Golfer
93mm: Pioneer Alox

A misdescribed Director on ebay, which was listed for €16.5  :woohoo:
I'm amazed at how thin the scales are. I thought they would be like the Cellidor ones, but in fact they're hardly thicker than Alox.

Found this new on eBay for less than a regular alox classic. Figured, why not?

It’s “wild jungle,” AKA, teal.  ::)

Thanks!

In hand the color is lighter than in the pic. Actually looks quite nice, and I’m not usually a teal fan.

Wenger Motorist!

I wanted to try out a wenger style mag glass so I was looking for a knife which contains it.

I came across several models - even one that is not described in sakwiki (4 layer - blade, openers, scissors, mag glass - equivalent of the explorer) but than this one picked my interest as it contains as well other wenger tools I do not have - the crazy wrench and metal file and overall looked like cool toolset. It has the older hot-stamped automobile (I believe the newer version has just white print of the automobile).
There are some scratches on the scales + some litlle ink? stains on it (I did not try too hard to clean it as I did not want to ruin the automobile picture) but other than that it is in good shape.

It is nice knife but the wenger style mag glass is a bit dissapoting - I prefere the vic version with lower magnification and much wider field of view.
