Different strokes for different folks, Swisster.

Personally, I tend to agree that 84mm is a little smaller than I prefer, at least for a primary knife.

But, for those who want something on the lighter weight/lighter duty side, they could do a lot worse than an 84mm Vic.

Agreed.  Also, kids, the Yeoman was a 91 mm knife -- a Scientist plus scissors.

I'm well aware of the size of the Yeoman. The point was about over hyped models and the sheeple that chase and romanticize them. I feel sorry for Myron and his self appointed lot in life roll to be SAK enlightener constantly .  WOW !!!   Irrelevant know it all-ism if there ever was. LOL !!!

We've gone 19 years without the need for personal attacks.  I feel like that's a trend we should strive to continue.

Completely agree.  The lack of personal attacks and mean spirited comments, even if disagree, is one of the things that makes this forum special.
I've tried to like 84mm stuff but they are too small unless you have a hand like a 6 year old. I have had old Cadet's , Cadet II's, Voyageur  and Cellidor models and I end up selling them because they are too small in hand and 91mm stuff is made with thicker implements in general and a more serviceable longer main blade. 84mm is a lot of too much made to do about nothing because most models have been retired and people hype up retired models. Should I hype up how great a 1973 Ford Pinto is ? Way too much group think sheepism in the pocketknife world for my liking. Kid's can you say Yeoman, Voyageur and Cadet II ? LOL !!!
2 out of 3 you mention are my favorite models.  I’m also no kid and was a fan before discontinued.  So for some you just like what you like.

I almost always have a Yeoman in my pocket.  IMO,  it pockets better than thicker SAKs  while packing a lot of utility.  I know there are many haters of the Vic mag glass, but I love it.  I especially use it a lot for reading small print on labels.

I like the Voyageur for discreet or formal carry.  It is a nice balance between the smaller 54/74mm and a full size 91mm with almost as much utility as a compact.

I couldn't agree more. There's too much of that in too many places these days. The most irritating word of the last decade, for me, is "sheeple." It's just an insulting way to express disagreement. I love the fact that people have different opinions than mine, and I often learn from them when I keep the emotion out of it. It would be mighty boring world if everyone agreed with me all the time.

You might be interested to learn that the term was first coined in the 1940s.

Personally, I think it is a reasonable word to use for people who don’t think independently/critically.  So, we can agree to disagree about that.
 ;)

The Oxford Dictionary takes your side, however, warning that sheeple is considered derogatory.

And, just to bring this thread back on track, here is a Hudson's Bay Spartan I was lucky enough to get recently.  With the recent closure of this old, traditional business I am even more pleased to have this knife.

Peace and love to all SAK fans and HBC customers!

I never managed to get one of those, oddly enough.

The good news is that the rights, logos etc have all been bought up by another Canadian company, Canadian Tire.  CT may be the opposite end of the retail spectrum (HBC was an upscale brand and Canadian Tire sells tires and outdoors gear) but it's great to see it still in Canadian hands where it belongs.

New (ish)-to-me Swisschamp; started refurbishing this excellent tool that came with nicked scales, bent CS, completely dulled blades, ultra stiff pliers pivot, and missing mini driver and toothpick. Still pending polishing the mag lens.  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

What is that?  A butane lighter?  Interesting.  How about a close-up photo of both sides with tools?  Best wishes.  Gary

Thank you! I completely missed one tool! The saw blade!

I also noticed that 2 are Campflame with the saw and 3 are Swissflame with the scissors instead of saw!

A beautiful Sapphire Blue Fieldmaster (and its story)
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Bought a BSA "Super Tinker" being sold as a "Tinker" for its BSA scale, and maybe for parts. Got it yesterday and upon opening saw a 4-layer tool, a Fieldmaster. Took the scales out, cleaned it thoroughly; seeing that it loosened and that other than its main blade everything was ok (and having spare implements, including blades and scales), decided to fix it up. And this is how I came to it!

Aha the infamous BSA ‘Huntsman

One query. The sapphire scales are nice
But shame to loose the inlay and its uniqueness!?   ???

Thanks for the insight Huntsman!
It might, but I bought it with the only inttention to use its scale in the BSA Explorer so,  it was its fate. It  will be a part of the collection  though, and become a "model" for the See Through Sunday post!

(And I'm more of "The Corkscrew crew" ...! )

Great score!

In my experience, that sort of failing is common among torch lighters.  I think Vic’s mistake was not making the whole lighter unit user replaceable.
