Very nice you were able to return for even a brief visit.

It does appear you are using your time VERY wisely!

I too!  Like this color, and on the Pioneer X it looks to be even more tantalizing.   I was able to secure one, and was advised it was shipped and to expect next week. 😎

And I do agree with prior comment, I also like the color of the gold beverage, hoping it is chilled properly to be refreshing!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Playing around with the explorer with micarta scales that arrived Wednesday.

Lots of little bits and bobs. The kid in me loves this stuff. Though I think I’m still an alox man at heart.

Thanks Antti!

No idea really. I'm guessing all those unusual scale designs are custom orders from Victorinox, made for certain retailers in specific markets/countries.

I also don't know how the matte effetct was created. The scales otherwise look like regular cellidor. Maybe with some kind of coating?
It's feels different compared to the 3D haptic design you see sometimes.

I finally gave in and got myself one of these big guys. I actually really like the size and feel of it in the hand; I genuinely didn't expect it to be so comfortable to use. And a bonus picture of it alongside my daily carry Swisschamp. The real question now is how to comfortably carry it — any suggestions?

I'd try to carry it in the "fifth pocket" of my Carhartts, which easily swallows up my USCK. I've also carried an ST300 in that pocket, but its weight is noticeable. That big beast of an SAK may better suited to belt carry.

You know, I think you're absolutely correct; I don't think this thing is quite suited for pockets. I found a guy who makes belt sheaths for these and asked him to make a horizontal one for me. Some things I don't quite understand are why these guys have half-stops on the blade (which I love) and why the new awls (i.e. on the liner lock models) doesn't have the hole. Pics of another new SAK I just got, too. You know, I don't think I'll ever find another model I like as much as the Swisschamp. The Cybertool M kicked the Swisschamp out of my pocket for about a month and then I realised how much I missed the makeshift fork fish-scaler.

. Absolutely beautiful! What do you mean when you say it feels like paper? Does it feel thin? As though it could be punctured? It's interesting because I think some of the aftermarket coloured ones are coloured differently. The Warthog ones from DLT feel for all the world like the older solid scales, and also have the Vic logo painted on (and it's actually even a bit fuzzy, like a low-pixel version of the logo was used), whereas that morse code one uses the metal inlay Vic symbol and has raised bumps for the text on the scales, like a bas relief kind of. I actually lived in NL for a few years (in Oegstgeest, near Leiden when I studied there). Beautiful country, I miss it a lot sometimes.

On closer inspection, my guess is the scales are regular white cellidor. But the camo print feels paper-like. Hard to explain :) The Mossy Oak scale designs feel the same.
It's not like the new(ish) "haptic" 3D scales with their textured surface.

The morse code SAK is awesome by the way!
