These have liner locks that force you to put your fingers in harms way. Not a fan because the blades do have strong enough backsprings that I feel it could easily cut your finger. Normal alox knives do not have this liner lock.
A little Leatherman information.

Yes, it is a regular Pioneer. They switched to the Pioneer X in 2021. I'm still a little upset about that.

Me, too. I was excited for the Pioneer X when it came out and carried one for a good bit. But my preferences have changed, and it is thicker than I like for pocket carry.

I'm with you on the changing preferences. Over about 5 years I went from carrying a Swiss Champ every day to almost exclusively 2-layer SAKs. I have a Pioneer X, and I really thought I would love it since it's the same thickness as a 2-layer celidor, but the weight difference is very noticeable in my pocket. Sometimes I'll grab a Spartan or Sportsman but the Pioneer is the best of the bunch.

What does the texturing feel like, LC? And are they all textured or just the cigar one?

Cigar is textured front and back. The band, the wrap.  Very cool.

The Alligator is textured too,  rough on the back, the other side is the belly, yellow.

The Dragon is smooth, different on back side, nose and eye!

The first two a Red Hill Cutlery exclusives, the Dragon is from them as well but not branded as the other two.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

My only issue with them is that they're a subsidiary of a larger company and were impossible for me to get ahold of the one previous time I ordered. I'll give them another shot, though.

OH, that is your question?
Red Hill Cutlery has their mark on back side.
But not Blue one. Found there too!

Thank you VICMAN.  The texture on the alligator is so real, topside and underside.

The Cigar Tinker, feels like a real wrap leave, ridges were the leaves overlap.   Been cool if it arrived with an Oder sample, for realistic aroma!

I took a chance after questioning a seller on his listing.

Poor picture and wrong model called out.

The seller confirm the color, dark green.  Reduced the price, so I took a chance.
Green is more BRITISH RACING GREEN, scales are unscathed, new like from the factory.  Back side foes have a business name that is tasteful.

Implements have oil residue but appears to never been used.

A second package arrived.  This was ordered out of curiosity as the SWISS VHAMP was introduced yo me a few weeks ago.

This a CHAMPION, 7 layer with one piece magnifier.

Think this is the model called a “ C “ model(?)

I got a Sportsman! I have very few 84mm models and was hoping to perhaps expand the range of the 84mms I own. I also purchased what was supposed to be a Tinker Small, but ended up being a regular Tinker . I really do have bad luck when it comes to receiving correct items from the River, haha... I really do like the Sportsman, though! And it's got a pin hole, too — really cool little model. I never quite understood the Recruit, to be quite honest, because I didn't know why anyone'd want a Sportsman without backside tools, but to each their own.

The Small Tinker is on the RIVER. CHECK MEASUREMENTS. 3.3” =0.0838 m 84mm.
3.6 = 91

Ps: The SPORTSMAN is a favorite, carries do well.

Yes, I think they just made a mistake when shipping it out. The item definitely said 'Tinker Small', but what came definitely wasn't the Tinker Small haha.

Personally, I would also prefer to have the backside tools for the additional utility.  But sometimes folks who might use them for whittling (or otherwise strongly prefer the smooth back spring) may prefer the Recruit.

Loop Cutter showed a Tinker in the Cigar motif.  I liked it.  I bought the Classic version of it.  It's interesting to feel texture on the scales, I like it.

The Sportsman is a great little knife! As was the Tourist (same but with small blade instead of file) which I was very sad to see discontinued. The moral is, get a couple of spare Sportsmen while the getting is good, if you like them.
