Those Heritage knives are beautiful.

I really hope they get carried - that is the type of thing that just looks better with age.

My wife just gave me my birthday present a bit in advance...

Happy Birthday, Mimifred! (in advance :D)

How come a IV in Switzerland? Anyway, mine IV series brother says Hi! 8)

I looked at sakwiki about the region thing, here's what I found : (cf sakwiki.com)

In 2009 as part of its Jubilee Anniversary Series, the 125 year old Victorinox released a limited edition replica of the original Soldier's Knife, known as the 125th Anniversary Heritage Swiss Army Knife (US Model# 51884, Victorinox AN: 0.1891.J). A total of 7536 Anniversary knives were produced, 1884 in each of four zones: zone I, Switzerland; zone II, Europe; zone III, the rest of the world (ubrige welt); and zone IV, USA and Canada. Each knife was stamped on the liner behind the awl with its particular number and zone; for example, 0569 / 1884 IV (the 569th knife of 1884 produced for zone IV). These numbers appear on the certificate of authenticity that accompanies the knife.

Of course, I (we all) know that. IV is for NA. So are you in Switzerland as shown by the little country flag or not? This was the real question :D Anyway, feel free to not answer this if you prefer.

Just picked up a checkered gold Ambassador on ebay. The 'Buy-it now' price was $140, but they also had a 'make offer'. button. I put in an offer of $126 and it was accepted. Several more available.

Thanks. Very interesting that the NA destined series are also available to purchase new from Victorinox store in Geneva. Maybe these were slow sellers compared with the other series. There are still many new IVs available for sale in the US right now.

The smallest of those tools is the old style awl, the other is the long nail file. Read more about those here: http://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Reamer and here: http://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Nail+File-Long

Well... it was actually a bit too expensive and I don't really collect 84mm SAKs... so yes, it may end up on EDC Source. No idea when though :)

My wife called the store today and that is exactly it. They sold the whole stock of region I and II so they had to recall some from III and IV.

Given Wenger's imminent demise, I just ordered an Evo 88.  When I get it, I'll swap the EvoGrip scales from my 81 on to it.

Next week, when I get paid again, I'm going to order an Evo S14 that I've been wanting for a while too.

Now just have to choose which Wenger I want to get after that.  Gotta move them up to the top of my list now since they're not going to be around for much longer.

My latest acquisitions are from this series shown in the following Victorinox image. I picked up a couple of the classics with metal inlays NIB. Photos when I can.
