Went to my favorite  Vic "scratch patch" and got 24 really nice knives at roughly about $2.50 each, got a spotless Explorer a Camper in translucent blue a My First Plus in translucent red a white Compact still with all its bits and peaces all in excellent condition but the 2 that I'm really pleased with is this 84mm(Golfer?)

and this Wenger which I can't ID its like a Backpacker but with a flat Philips screwdriver in the place of a nail file or small blade.

That is one sweet Wenger. I wish I could run across one of those. Great find.

Super finds!!!!     :tu:

The one you labeled Golfer appears to be a model 244 ka.

Hi guys!
My last one is this Wenger. I am very keen on 84 mm Golfer with "Compact" tools, but it is sci-fi to catch this model at present. So I have bought 85 mm Wenger, but Combo tool is missing and it is normally fitted with nail-file. I will try to change it from model 63 in future.

Thanks Francis,I saw an earlier thread where Jazzbass and you ID it as 244 ka from a 50's catalog but numbers are so impersonal hence the ? mark and () and I always wanted a Golfer (just to have one) maybe one day someone will be so stupid to have one in his pocket while boarding and I can end up with it  :D

ha ha... ya I know what you're saying.  Hope you have time to put those great pictures on the Wiki.

The newer knives with the flat Phillips have been put into the Classic series.  The one you show looks like the Classic 132 (1.13.29).  They don't appear available in North America, but are still available elsewhere.  I think this is the one there was a small discussion on SOSAK about it.  I put it on my want list, as well as a couple others with flat Phillip.

I remember having exactly the same thoughts; wanted a 84mm Golfer-couldn't get one.  Thought about Wenger, looked at their SAKs and found that they didn't quite do an exact equivalent. ::)  I so very nearly got the same one as you have there, but I got a bit lucky and found a Golfer in OK condition.  I still think the Wenger will serve you very well though. :tu:

You know, I've never played with Wenger's fold out scissors or pliers. :-\  I think you've just added something else to my mental 'wish-list'. >:(

Is that Ranger hiding a Wood Saw?  If not... that's the model I'm looking for!!  I really like the folding scissors or maybe more correctly called small shears.  I have a couple wider knives, but I'm looking for a thin knife with the folding shears.  The Ranger 13 is the thinest model I know of, but I have not been able to find one yet.

Yes, this modell is without saw (the main blade, cap-lifter, can-opener, cork-screw and - folding scissors). I am not sure which model number is it at this moment. Saw model with scissors was produced as well. You are absolutely right - it is quite difficult to find them - try Amazon!

I bought 4 SAKs a few months ago, but still EDC my Cybertool 34 because it is the most useful SAK for my day to day needs.  So I obviously don't need to buy any new ones! (I have my CT34, Alox Cadet, Alox Farmer, Vic Ranger, Vic Trekker)

Anyway:
I just ordered a Vic Explorer & a Vic OHT (Non-Serrated).  I blame Amazon - same deal as when I got my other 4 (over 2 separate orders) - spend over $50 and save $10.  My OHT + Explorer cost only $45 ($30 + $25 - $10) including US shipping.  It gets really hard to not spend money when you find deals like that!  The Explorer is in a gift tin (shaped like the Victorinox cross) for only $25 and with $10 off the order it makes it more like $20.

I'm pretty sure I'll keep carrying my Cybertool 34, so I don't even know when I'll use my new SAKs, but at least I haven't wasted much money!

By my understanding 5 were given in 2006, 5 in 2008, and 5 in 2010.  That was all of them.  They were given to officers that served 2 years with the Neutrality Commission in Korea on the DMZ.  Lt. Gen. Blattmann is the Chief of Armed Forces of Switzerland (that happens to be the shield of his Command).

Today is just one of those days that is Too Awesome in SAK-life to really understand fully on the first day.  Luckily lots of pictures have been taken in the past which no doubt made many  so I'll just relax and share a couple unboxing shots then I'll have to take quite time to enjoy them.

I'm not going to do many pictures since they are already posted on a couple of sites, but I wanted to try to make an image like this.  Unfortunately trying to do this handheld without a little studio stage setup is very frustrating, so this is the best I can get for now.  As mentioned earlier in this thread one of the coolest things on a couple of these is that the blade is etched or laser cut straight through, this one actually has a little stone or piece of glass in the center of the cross as well.  (Lighting provided by a Zebralight SC60w handheld flashlight.)
