Thanks Sawman, she is a beauty :tu:  Not bad for pocket carry either.  I was actually expecting it to be just slightly thinner than my Yeochamp, but it's the other way around.  No big deal though as there's a lot of utility contained within it.  It's cool that all 5 layers have a backtool as well.

You Guys are acquiring some great SAK's

I recently acquired this NIB Victorinox Camper advertising knife. An hour or so with some fine wet n dry
and polishing compound had the logo removed and the scales restored to pristine condition. This model has no key ring and the colour is a very dark blue, much darker than the standard Vic blue which is shown for comparison.

This is cool. I never noticed the different shade of blue on those Festool knives. Time to add one to my "all scale variations ever produced" collection :)

Edit: I just bought two of them just to be sure :ahhh

Good job on those scales GV  :salute:
Everything’s adjustable

5 dollar flea market score.  Small tinker with a nail file instead of small blade.  Almost like the wenger snife I sold but a victorinox.

I will be taking it to work with me on monday

@monrogue your ruby ranger is quite lovely.  I really like the ranger myself and find it to be great for pocket carry.  I recently added a explorer plus to my collection and cannot wait to get it. I may use this as my daily carry and give my wenger S10 some time off.

The Explorer is another fine SAK.  Its Philips is great and I use the mag glass a lot.  :tu:

Thanks man :salute:  Oh you won't be disappointed with that one.  I used to have an Explorer, but then I sacrificed it for parts to contribute to my Yeochamp.  I'm loving the Ranger Plus.  That and the Explorer are probably my favorite 91mm SAKs currently in production :tu:

thanks I got one with the grey housing not the clear one so its real glass if im understanding correctly.  I liked the woodsman and modeler but discontinued so ill search fleabay from time to time and see what comes up.  with my vision the mag glass is a big help and I like the 8x magnification vs the 5 on the new ones.

Nice :tu:  I've always wondered how the two different mag glasses compared.  Some here have stated that the old style has a smaller viewing glass, but better magnification, and some prefer the slightly larger view of the newer style.  I've never tried the old style myself to compare though.

this will be my first mag glass SAK but I figured the real glass would hold up better???  I also figured the higher magnification would be better for my aging eyes, I guess I will find out soon enough.

Yeah, I would imagine it could hold up better.  The newer plastic ones seem a little flimsy.

It might be less magnification, but the new glass is wider which I find more useful.

Just got back from the flea market.

Picked up a champion,  with chisel,  but no hook.

Also the awl has no eye hole.

Anyone who has any good info on this knife, and it's willing to share,  I would be very thankful.

SAK wiki did not match it up perfectly,  so if pictures are needed., I can provide them

You have to look into the specific tools for dating.

No hook=pre 1991 http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Hook

No sawing eye=pre 1985 http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Reamer

You can also check here but it's been said that not all of the data is correct:

Sounds like 73-85 Champion. If there is no sewing eye on the awl, then this is a pre-86 knife and the thing on the back is a fine screwdriver, not a chisel. The original style fine screwdriver (74-85) looks like the modern chisel (86+), so there tends to be some confusion.

Looking at the other tools you can narrow this down to a more specific date range in the 1973-1985, but mid 1980s Champions are quite common so I'd wager there a good chance this knife was made sometime between 1980-1985.

Awesome!   Very helpful.

And I was actually about to make a correction on the screw driver not being a chisel,  but great catch,  and the confirmation is helpful.
EDIT  removed once I realized it was pointless and wrong!

I thought it was a good find.  I paid $10 for it.

the main blade opened with no problems, everything else was "break a finger nail" tight.

I spend an hour cleaning it up and oiling it/working it.   seems pretty good now.

here is a picture

thanks to everyone who helped identify a time frame for it.
