Blue Alox Custom from rickinFL.

That's amazing!  I wonder if the blades are any less rust-resistant now.   :tu: :tu:
that's a good question. I do not know the answer except to say that time will tell.

Lucked into a Swiss Champ with a difference. Done for our good friends the Saudi Arabians, who won't allow even a knife handle with a cross into their country.

I'd say that's a Bantam. The current Waiter has a corkscrew, and the old alox Waiter had a normal cap lifter instead of the combo tool yours has. Actually, yours is the same one shown here: http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Bantam
Nice knife by the way, I like the old ribbed scales and old shield :tu:

I agree with this, and I'm pretty sure SAKwiki does as well.  BUT... When exactly the name changed from Waiter to Bantam I'm not 100% sure but I use the change in the cap-lifter as a convienent reference.  I'm suer not everyone got the memo from vic and continued to call the new version by the old name; and as Reinier mentioned not all regions get the same memo.

Thank you for your replies, gentlemen. I now realise that not everything is as it seems in the world of SAKs given that Victorinox produce models for different markets.

Just to further confuse things...

In my notes I have that the grooved alox version with cap lifter/bottle opener is the 'Waiter' (# 0.13 00.26). The grooved alox with combo tool is 'Private' (#?); with the later checkered version 'Bantam' (# 00.2300.26).

Hmm... guess they can't hit a target, then. No crosshairs in your scope, or on your targeting screen?

It's so hard for me not to carry the thing. First shelf queen I've ever bought and it's really hard to break my abusive habits lol.

I kind of miss the shield though. It looks so bare without it, not even SAK like almost...  ::)

While it does convey a bit of "knock-off-ness", I like how clean it is.

The SI is a sore subject for me because they've been discontinued. It's still hard to believe such an incredible thing will be no longer.  :(

I've never seen them before and thought they were odd.
They come new in the factory box from wenger.

Today I picked up what I think is a huntsman plus, survival set/traveler set in very good condition      (I paid far too much money for this  :-[  )

A very dirty and over sharpened 111mm Picnicker with a slightly damaged can opener
resting here after a bath  :)

Everything’s adjustable

Just bought my first Spartan. With Ecoline scales, soon to be replaced with wooden ones. I was looking for a cheap one to try this, I think this was the best option. Scales are big enough to avoid very small detailed work.
Let's see how this turns out...

FINALLY  :ahhh my REAL Explorer Plus is here.  its missing the toothpick which I knew before hand so no problem.  over all its in pretty great shape and its definitely ready for an adventure. cant wait to pocket it and get her to work, the Champion Plus hasn't left my pocket since I miss posted it was my explorer and has come in quite handy.  seems like a VIC or Wenger for me is a must,  a good percentage of the time.

thanks buddy,  the Champ just lost its place in my pocket to this girl.  I cant wait I have seriously wanted one for a while.  ill report back once she and I get acquainted.  hows that sweet ranger? I find myself filing stuff or at least knocking the burr off stuff.  didn't realize how sharp things are around the house.

The Explorer is a good SAK, and that's why I took the mag/phillips layer from mine to be a part of my Yeochamp.  The Ranger is good.  I'm not carrying it this week, but I already miss it (probably more due to the newness factor).  I'll see it again at home in a bit ;)  I will probably have to be doing a little filing around the home as our baby girl will be crawling in the next few weeks it seems.  I dread the idea of trying to baby proof the place.

Good choice!  I carry an Explorer Plus everday on a P-7 clip in my front right pocket.  I use the clip so I can still put stuff in my pocket and hardly know it is there.  :D

Stopped by the new Cabela's in north Denver this afternoon. Big store with a boat-load of outdoor gear. Exactly one SAK - a Wenger EVO 14. At one time Cabela's had their own special order SAKs; not any more.
