Very nice, Gareth!
Is there a company logo on the other scale? Almost all yellow ones I have seen have the cross and shield on the back scale
I believe so, but it's not landed on my door step yet so I can tell you what it might be. ;)

Regular yellow scales (shield on front) are currently available as new replacement scales. On a Compact:

Well it's now here and I can tell you what's on the scale, it's one of the metal inlays and it's for a company called Spirovent.  Coincidentally I actually know this company and their products; they make air vents and dirt collectors for boiler systems.  I happen to have one in my work's plantroom. :D

It may not be a big surprise that they are painted yellow. 8)

+ a current style Vic Craftsman with reversed plain scales and a Wenger S557 EvoWoodie  8) The woodie one has scales a bit different from the older EvoWoods that I got when they appeared on the market. These are lighter in color, differently cut at the corkscrew (made me think they were defective until I got a second EvoWood that was the same so now I have two with this detail) and the cross shield is not as deeply cut as on the older ones. But it's a very nice SAK regardless.

Would you mind posting a comparison picture with the older EvoWoods you were referring?
I'm interested about the differences you mentioned.

Are you ppl buying SAKs that don't come with split rings because I'm seeing an awful lot of pics w/o them. They don't look right w/o their split rings. Fix it please!

Thanks all :D

Basilio, I will try to post later a comparison for the corkscrew detail on the EvoWoods.

Steve, many of those posted SAKs with their split rings missing -if not all- are probably mine ;) I routinely remove the rings on my new SAKs and keep aside. Steel ring against anodized aluminium or soft plastic tends to leave marks over time. So unless I carry a SAK with a lanyard attached the ring stays off.

About the EvoWoods corkscrew detail. What happens is that the recent ones that I got have the tiny wood lip missing below the corkscrew. The edge of the aluminium liner is visible there. Here is a pair of pics for comparison - the 'new' example is about the worst that I have since there is a bit of a gap there visible as well. Maybe is an intended change, maybe there are just some scale batches that have it. What I know is that I got more than one EvoWood with this detail from more than one source.

Thanks for the pictures!
Luckily that part of the scale is almost covered by the corkscrew, so it isn't a big issue.

Same here. I usually just store the split ring underneath the plastic in the box they came in.
