I love it. I has a clean beam. It has also a very wide hotspot due to the R5 bigger die.

I heard lots of good things about this light...  I might look into getting one myself.  :)

Do you use all those Li-Ions?  I find that it's cost effective to not have a lot of Li-Ion backup batteries, since they have a shelf life.

It has also a very wide hotspot due to the R5 bigger die.

XR-E, XP-E, XP-G, etc. indicates the type of die used.  R5 is just the flux bin of the emitter.  "R5" means that it is more efficient (and brighter) than R3, R2, etc.--it has no effect over the shape of the beam.

It has a wide hotspot because it is an XP-G die.

It's a UniqueFire R5.

I've just ordered a similar spec light from DX to play with "Ultrafire"... mm hmm....

At least it's modable to a newer P60 drop-in should the need arise :)

You running that one on Li-on or 2xCR123s?

I'm running it on lithium 18650. It's a budget light but it doesn't feel cheap. Nice wide hot spot with no noticeable cree ring, nice built quality too.

That's good, hopefully won't get too hot then!

I have heard good things about them too and think that budget lights can be well worth the spend.

How's the quality of those Panasonic 18650s?  Are they PCB protected?

Those are unprotected 18650. I am very much satisfied with its performance.

Hi guys,
edap617, sorry, as I borrowed your topic  :)

I am looking for a Fenix TK11 lamp.
But I spotted there is a difference in two models of TK11.

Could anyone of you please explain what is the difference between R2, R5 and Q5 Edition.

As I read before, R5 is brighter than R2. But what about Q5?
Is R5 still the brightest (lumens)?
I am a total amateur with these things, so a good explanation would really help.

Thank you

The flux bins go in alphabetical order in large steps, and number order in smaller steps.   The bins would be in this order:

Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4,Q5,R1,R2,R3,R4,R5, etc.

R5 is noticeably brighter than Q5.

R5 is a bit brighter than R2, but you wouldn't really notice unless comparing them directly.

Please note that these numbers indicate flux (brightness/efficiency) only, and have no effect on the shape of the beam.  The type of die determines the beam profile, i.e. XR-E, XP-E, XP-G, just as the size/profile of the reflector does.
