Tips for a watch
on: August 08, 2010, 11:32:53 PM
My birthday is coming up, and I basically have everything I need - except a watch. I'm thinking $50-100, digital, with a large (man sized  ) diameter but as thin as possible. Don't need anything other than the watch feature. I could do analog as well, but I prefer digital. Anything obvious I should look at?

You'd be hard pushed to beat a G-shock in that range I reckon.

There are dozens to choose from, not all great big chunky things either :)

Looked at those but they're so butt ugly xD It seems all analog watches are ugly, so maybe it's best to go analog... it really doesn't matter either way.
This one seemed nice http://www.amazon.com/Casio-MDV102-1AV-Analog-Illuminator-Watch/dp/B00134JNM8/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1281303517&sr=1-11

That does look quite nice.

Most of my watches are analogue, but they are autos. I like Seikos and Citizens mostly. I also have an Eco-Drive which are well worth looking at although a bit spendy.

I recently bought a VAGARY IRO watch. It is actually citizen diver watch with all the functions of the divers watch with a less expensive and crazy colors. A perfect youth watch. And after some snorkeling dives I love it cause it is a serious instrument also. From time to time you can find it like new from ebay like I did (for 45euros shipped to Greece) or buy it a new one from Italian ebay from about 90euros plus shipment.

+1

It's hard to beat the bang-for-the-buck of a Casio.  I have a Casio tough solar analog that I'd imagine will outlive me easily.

Don't give up so easily.  I have this watch and I love it.  Ana-digi atomic clock set, solar powered.  Slightly over the range you posted but well worth it
