Why I always schlep a loaner Flashlight .
on: August 08, 2010, 04:34:33 PM
One of the young Sparkys came up to me , and very sheepishly asked if he could borrow a lite . I lent him my Gen. 2 MiniMag LED . Eight hours later , I asked the fella if he was done with it , he started to dig around in his pouch , finally found it , scratched to rat S#!t . I would have been Uber PI$$ED off it had been a Novatac , or Surefire . The lite survived just fine . I used to use Pelican "Recoil " LED lites as my loaners , but they take 4 AA's . In the future , I may try disposable examination penlights .

Anyway , always carry a spare and a "loaner " when in the company of unprepared Heathens !

Yup, I have a few "9 LED" dollar store flashlights that I use as loaners.  There's been a few times when I loaned out a light and they came back all dinged up. :(

    That's more like my response.

Ask him if he knows what S.O.L. stands for?

When I first started (all those years ago) I was taught to give things back in a better condition than they were lent to me
i.e. brickies trowel and bucket would have to be cleaner than when I got it

I have a few of these hanging around and for around 2.50
they are great to loan/gift to people  :tu:

I quite like the Mini Mag- LEDS . I carry them as a backup/loaner lite . Cheap , reliable , easy to obtain ( any big box store ) ; what's not to like !

What's wrong with their performance? ???
It's certainly no thrower but it floods well and has good runtime.

IMVHO , not a lot for work , the head twist focus actually works quite well with an LED . The throw is adequate unto the pourpose , the flood/sidespill is good . Ruggedness/F&F/ etc. in relation to pricepoint seems good . I would happily pay a few bucks more for a HAIII version .
