I'm loving this thread, it's just a shame I don't have any 'vintage' to add to it. :-\  Keep the pics coming though folks. :tu:

I love those Fisherman.

Here is another quick one, picked this up on ebay a few days ago with 3 other knives for a less than 30, and one of the others was a nice Victoria executive.  I never get my good deals on ebay, but I guess there is always exceptions.

Nice Fisherman!

Is that one going on a fishing trip soon, or is that another one of your fishin' mates?

Attached is a Old Elinox that conveniently has the year 1963 etched on the blade.

I have to post one more.  I just got this today from one of our favorite Switzerland ebay sellers. The picture doesn't do this one justice.

This is vintage, a 75mm Victoria carbon-steel single blade knife in amazing condition.  It's just a wonderful size for a pocket knife.  I don't know why, but it just feels perfect in the hand; the even the cellidor feels different for some reason.

SAK Happy Day Today!

Carbon steel blade  wow very nice
Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time

a lot of cool knives on this thread :sak:. Can someone give me some info on when victorinox went from carbon steel to stainless. For the soldier blade it was around 1924. Was it later for the non-soldier blades?

Here is a strange old Victoria Classic with a rather large shield. It has the old style machined or cut type nail file and the old scissors with original single leaf spring.

The only info I could gather on the company is it might be the old UBS Bank in their original name. They have the same anniversary dates.

I have one or more of the same box, but I'm not sure if I have any box earlier.  One day soon I hope to have a page on the wiki with the different boxes from different markets.

My stag champion model '246fmaU HH' came in such a box.  Is your box for the Tinker or the Camper?

It's possible some of the bigger boxes, that have the paper inserts to hold the knives might be earlier, or used at the same time, I'm not sure.  I think they often had more than 1 box style going so again it might be hard to put a precise date on the packaging.  Based on what we know about the model numbers and what I've seen stampted on the boxes I'd say that's a pretty earlier one. I have a couple Automobile knives in larger boxes that use the 8134ma type of numbering, and that's faily old too.  Definetly the larger boxes with the very pale green paper inserts to hold the knife are quite old as well.

How old are the boxes with the pale green paper inserts?  The reason why I ask is because all of the Solos, Farmers, and Pioneers I have/had came with it, but they had checkered old alox scales; did the 93mm alox line not come in ribbed versions?

That box is a typical late 1950s/early 1960s box, which goes well with that Tinker which looks to be from about 1960-1961. I have Master Craftsman from the same era (large awl, no rivets) but a couple years older and it came in the exact same box.

The oldest box I've seen was on eBay in an auction I didn't win. It was for a Fisherman from the 1952-1958 era. The box is similar to one you show here, with a couple minor differences. Based on the stampings on the Fisherman, it was made in the later part of the 52-58 time period:
