How old are the boxes with the pale green paper inserts? The reason why I ask is because all of the Solos, Farmers, and Pioneers I have/had came with it, but they had checkered old alox scales; did the 93mm alox line not come in ribbed versions?
Quote from: Jack Russell on September 12, 2010, 09:16:16 PMBTW that is the oldest box I have. I would be interested to see what the earlier ones look like?? That box is a typical late 1950s/early 1960s box, which goes well with that Tinker which looks to be from about 1960-1961. I have Master Craftsman from the same era (large awl, no rivets) but a couple years older and it came in the exact same box. The oldest box I've seen was on eBay in an auction I didn't win. It was for a Fisherman from the 1952-1958 era. The box is similar to one you show here, with a couple minor differences. Based on the stampings on the Fisherman, it was made in the later part of the 52-58 time period:(Image removed from quote.)

I'm not a big 58mm collector, but here are a couple cool vintage 58mm knives I've come across in my collecting: (Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)
Is that an inlaid engraving panel on the right?
Neat, not seen that before.
I like riveted 58mm Did I see one somewhere that used square rivets or was I dreamin' ?
Indeed, I love looking to see what everyone gets in.Duder: Might as well call it a Drunken Plumberjack until someone else comes along with an actual name - and no, not Golfer, Neil.
