Charge SLV EDC Starter Kit at EDCSource.com
on:
August 13, 2010, 03:29:25 AM
The Multitool.org Store at EDCSource.com has 3 pieces of a limited run of 1500 of a special Charge SLV gift tin kit for sale. The kit includes the Charge SLV, a Serac S1 LED light, an Inka write anywhere pen and a Nite Ize Pockits MultiPockits sheath with plenty of room for added accessories. These were a special run and when they are gone there probably won't be any more available.

Yeah, it's a great deal, especially for those who can't go to Costco and buy one. Of course those who
can
go to Costco still miss out on the other goodies in there!

Thanks for the kind words. It is a nice kit and I tried to price them fairly. I tried to compile the same kit in individual pieces and it was much more expensive when priced online, even on the "big auction site".
For those that are not aware, this offering from The Multitool.org Store signifies an additional direction for the store. Until now we had been offering only items with Multitool.org markings. We will continue to do that. However, in the interest of developing the store as a complimentary resource to Multitool.org and all the information here, we will be working toward offering a wide variety of tools. Ideally most will be somewhat unique like this kit. We have established relationships with a couple of suppliers and are beginning to work on developing relationships throughout the multitool industry.
As we grow and develop this part of the store, there will be more opportunities similar to this one. Grant and I are constantly looking for special deals and interesting items.

I incidentally bought mine off of Ebay a day before the announcement was made about the same kit from EDCS. So I kicked myself a little over that. However, it did come in, and maybe some photos might stir up a bit more response to buy one from EDCSource.
The Charge SLV EDC Starter Kit comes in a nice beautiful Leatherman presentation tin. Inside, nestled in a felt/plastic carrier is a Leatherman Charge SLV and a Leatherman Serac S1 LED flashlight, an Inka write anywhere pen, and a Nite Ize Multi Pockits sheath are under the plastic shape fitted tray.
The Nite Ize Multi Pockits sheath is large. About the size of a Victorinox XAVT sheath. The sheath is compartmentalized very much like some of Leatherman’s sheaths. However, the size means that you will be able to carry your cell phone, mini tool kit, whatever, plus you’re Leatherman Charge. You will want to carry other stuff in here as alone, the Charge is way too small for the main pocket of the Multi Pockits sheath.
I am impressed with the sheath. It is not too large that you wouldn’t want it on a belt, but it provides ample room for anything you would want to carry on a belt. The Charge SLV is a Charge AL with gray handles instead of black. It is quite the looker. The kit also came with several small pieces of paper along with a mini bundle that has one battery and some of the lanyard attachments for your included components.
The pen is actually cool. It comes in a protective covering with a key ring attached. Simply pull out the pen. I found the pen a bit on the short side for true comfort, but long enough to be more then useful. If you have ever written with anything that Victorinox has included with one of their knives, the Inka pen is far better to use. The included Leatherman Serac S1 LED light is nice and bright, and of a size that is perfect for sheath carry.
Overall, you get a real nice Leatherman Charge multi-tool and flashlight, a neat pen, and a nice sized sheath, all in one of those nice Leatherman presentation tins.

Chako- you do know the pen is a transformer, right? Unscrew the barrel from the keyring, pull out the end of the pen next to the blue o-ring, then screw the pen end into the barrel and stick the end into the end of the newly built pen.
It's a bit of a process, ok if you have some significant writing to do, but I usually just have to make a quick note or two, check off the odd thing or quickly jot something foen, so I usually don't bother with all that. Otherwise though, it's not a bad pen.

Thanks Def. Not at the time of writing. That is fairly ingenious. The pen even includes a PDA stylus.
