Need help with the micra.
on: August 13, 2010, 02:44:33 AM
Can someone please tell me the correct way to sharpen the blade on the micra? I sharpen normal blades using a stone freehand, but the micra's blade is a chisel grind.

How do I go about it?

You may be able to do it with folded up foil, which works on small SAK scissors. Failing that, using something like a Sharpmaker would work even though it's a small fiddly job :)

I thought you could just do it on a stone the same way, except one sided? ???

I keep hearing about the sharpmaker. I need to get one I guess. :)

Oh, and I was asking about the small blade in the micra. Not the scissors

I didn't know that. Maybe you can, I'll give it a shot.

D'oh... sorry, I'm more dyslexic when tired  ::)

The Sharpmaker is definitely the way forward for most blades I reckon - it's a good investment  :tu:

The sharpmaker is the wrong angle for the chisel grind. Just sharpen it normally (ie both sides) using it and it works.

I sharpen my small classics blade on a large stone and its razor sharp, i used to use this with my esquire and that was sharp as well, i find it easier with smaller blades   :-\
