ST300, EOD version, due October
on: July 05, 2010, 04:45:26 AM
First we had the standard stainless finish Super Tool 300...

...and the black oxide "Cap Crimper " Super Tool 300...

...but now they have an EOD version Super Tool 300 coming out, hopefully in October according to what JoeBW heard!! :)

The jaws are obviously special, as is the spike, but what do you suppose that second saw blade is all about?

The ST 300 EOD probably isn't in my future, but it sure is an awesome looking tool that I'm sure any EOD operator would be tickled to be packin'.  The second saw blade does intrigue me.  It's great to see all the new and inovative stuff LM has come out with lately.

What I really want to know is when will we see a black oxide ST300 without that goofy crimper head?   :gimme:

Second saw looks like a hacksaw blade.

Amici,
Very nice although I'm not a fan of BO (have a BO Wave that's been assigned to glove box duty) plus where are the SCISSORS, that's the real deal breaker for me..

Cheers,
Serge

Neat! Does it use the Surge-style saw receptacle then? :)

If they are making a EOD version, why do they put that cap crimper nobody wants on the BO version?

If it's a standard T-shank saw coupler then thats something I want on other tools not just an EOD tool. Man that would make the ST300 even sweeter.

And I just noticed, the main blade is COMBO edge.

The main blade is combo edge in this thread's photo, but in the picture Gaff posted, it is plain edge...  ???

Very good question. I wanted a BO ST300 but will not have a crimper on that particular tool. I get too much use out of the pliers without it. Plus I don't blow things up, wouldnt know the first thing about what todo with explosives

Unfortunately they ruined the pliers on it rendering it useless to people like me who don't blow things up for a living  >:(

If you do encounter a mine it would prob be safer just to chuck the whole tool at it and let it blow up that way... as long as you don't step on it of course

Now wait a minute, I actually DO want the cap crimper on my ST300. Last season we used terminals on all of the wiring on our robot that were solderless but needed proper cap crimpers to work well. We had to make do with pliers and half of the freakin' terminals had to be redone!

Gerber has had a dedicated EOD model for ages now. SOG likewise. It is about time that Leatherman follows suite.
